What’s your perfect three watch collection rule ?

Looking for the third piece to complete the collection haha! What’s your rules of the three watch collection ? Land , air and sea ? Or different complications. I’m eyeing on Vertex 36mm that they are going to release in June, what you guys think about the Vertex?

N = N + 1

The insatiable urge is as illogical as the math.

·

I love the brushed "aircraft aluminum" look of the dial on your Railmaster!

·

If I stuck with a 3-watch collection, I would go with:

1 Dress watch for formal situations

1 Beater watch for hard-use situations

1 GADA/everyday watch that can fit in any situation if you can only use 1 watch.

·

Mint green Navitimer.

This question has a false premise:

there is nothing perfect about being limited to three watches.

·

So there's actual humans in this world with a 3 watch collection???????? I didn't think it was possible.

·

Rolex Datejust. Cartier Santos. Omega Seamaster.

That’s my 3 watch (for now) collection. Looking to add a Rolex GMT II and a Zenith Chronomaster to make it the perfect 5 watch collection 😅

·

I think you should go with a more dressy watch as your third and final. Maybe a Reverso or Tank, so that you also get a different shape of watch in there.

·

Because this question comes up every few weeks, I have this photo saved 😂

3 watch collection I will never part with.

Yes, a Vertex would be an excellent addition to your collection.

Mine's my SM300, Aqua Terra and id like a good field watch & Vertex are in the running, along with Tudor Ranger and Denim Railmaster. 👍🏻

·

That Omega on the left is getting on my radar recently, especially the steel dial. May I ask your wrist size? Mine is 6 1/2 inches. Tks.

Exactly what I thought! 😁

Field, Diver and GADA.

Based on your current watches and depending on your lifestyle I would say dress or Gshock

·

My collection usually depends on the color variations. I need sth to wear with blacks, browns, blues+whites and mostly greens. I change a watch or several watches once in every 1,5-2 years. But if a blue goes out, a new blue should come back in. I see that you're missing a white dial if you consider only 3 watches in your collection. White can be classic or sporty depending on what you're wearing it with. Pick sth with 100m+ wr and definitely with a bracelet.

·

I try to stay to 3 watches to keep from spending too much, having too many watches I don’t wear, having more lower quality watches instead of a few higher quality and just for my sanity.

My rules are Dress, Daily (more weekend/casual for me) and Beater.

I wear my beater most days for work, daily on the weekends and dress for special occasions or sometimes casually.

Yea and with this definitely can play around with the outfit !

GADA, GADA and GADA

Dress, Daily and Tool

Seiko Tank for dress

OMEGA Aqua Terra for daily

VAER DS5 Meridian for tool

·

This was the three I went for

A dive watch for everyday use

Something special - speedmaster

And I got the grand seiko as it covers travel and being quatz it’s a great grab and go and handy to set the other two

So you could go gmt next also the right one can cover dress too

3 is too few for me but if I did it would be the 3 I like best, regardless of category or type.

·

Three watch collections are so personal.

For me versatility would be paramount, but I'd probably choose a GADA without a rotating / tool bezel, a GMT with solid water resistance or a dressy diver, and a chronograph.

So for your particular collection I'd add a Zenith Chronomaster Original (probably the triple calandar):

... or a Speedie

·

This right here is super perfect. I would probably add a ds chronograph by certina white dial

·

If I was forced to do a 3 watch set, I guess I’d do a diver, pilot, and maybe a field watch for daily use

·

Dress, Dive, Field for me.

·

My 3: Longines Legend Diver 39mm (like yours), Rolex Explorer 40mm and Omega Speedmaster. A diver, a field watch and a chrono…

·

Air, land, and sea

I sort of regret selling off the 3 watch collection that I owned back in the 80s before marriage, mortgage and daughters altered my imperatives: late 80s Rolex Cosmograph, gold and steel Cartier Santos, Breitling Chronomat with rose gold bezel and brushed bullet style bracelet.

Diver, every day/dress, complication (chron, gmt)
