Omega Constellation 1969

Finally, I got my hands on an Omega Constellation 1969 (168.025 Cal 564) with the pie pan dial. For a 50+ year old watch, it looks amazing, and I wanted to share my joy with the folks on this forum.

When I wear it, it feels tiny (34mm case) - probably because I'm more used to the gigantic watches of the more recent years. (For comparison, I wore the Omega Constellation side by side with my Bulova Dinner Plate.)

The previous owner did not know the service history of this watch. All he knew was that it wound well, had a decent reserve (over 24 hours from what I can tell), the date function works well, etc.. The watch is losing about 25 seconds a day, however, which, for a vintage watch, is expected, I guess.

Questions for the folks more knowledgeable about vintage watches:

Should I just send this in for a service to a trusted watch maker? Should I always expect to service a vintage watch when first purchased if the seller does not know the service history?

Thank you.

Congratulation🎉 Very nice Pie Pan. The dial looks fantastic. If the watch seems to behave properly I wouldn’t run to the watchmaker in a hurry.

Wow.. I can see the inspiration for new globemaster from this beauty.. if ain’t broken why fix it..

Looks perfect on you. 36mm is your home.

Congratulations! I love pie pan dials and I have a 1960 Constellation, 3 hands no date complication. It's a 34mm and I think the design has enough presence that it doesn't actually need to be any bigger. They tend to wear larger and it actually looks bigger on my wrist than my Nomas Club which is 36mm.

Beautiful watch. If the watch is working well and the time loss doesn’t bother you that much, I don’t think you need to rush to a service. I apply this in general on vintage. No real need to run into a service.

I'm not an expert collector but if its vintage and not worn every day +/- 2 minute is good enough for me.

Congratulations on a timeless classic!
