Other Collections (Hats, Shoes, Sunglasses,etc)

What other collections are people in to, and do you like to match your watch with them?

I'm big on Boston Scally Company (BSC) hats, allbirds shoes, adidas slides, and custom Oakley's sunglasses. And I deff coordinate my watch with them.

I just received a new release from BSC today, their Bruins Peaky. And it goes perfectly with my pro.

Do straps count?  I'd be in trouble if I collected anything else (less money for watches and straps).

Collecting watches in "almost retirement" has me feeling like a kid again.  Last time I collected anything, it was comic books and baseball cards/ wacky packs.  All of which were given away to younger cousins or my parents' friends' younger kids when I was a teenager (who knew that these things might have any value when I was old).

For sure straps count. I personally am a stickler for the OEM bracelet/strap my watches come on but I respect the strap game immensely

I don’t so much collect baseball hats as accumulate them. Don’t get to wear them much, but love them all and have had some for many decades. Always happy when one is on my head, especially at a ballpark watching my son or our local minor league play, eating a hot dog and drinking an RC Cola.

I am not a serious numismatist, but I’ve also accumulated interesting coins whenever I have had the chance. Love giving them away when people find them interesting.

I'm retired and wear Carhart plaid shirts w black t-shirt and cargo pants. PNW look. So I collect a lot of watch straps and accessorize or coordinate with my color scheme for that day.

Just ordered another strap roll lol

I used to collect baseball caps, but they got lost/stolen in the move to Utah and I couldn't start over.   Up to that time, I bought hats from every MLB baseball series I ever went to for 40 years.

I dabble in colognes and boots now, along with watches of course.

·

I don't get collecting clothing, those are "perishable" items.  They deteriorate and/or go out of style.  Eventually, somebody steps on your white sneakers or sits on your hat.  I have a bunch of watch straps, but I don't consider that a collection.  They exist to make my watches look good, and they come and go.  I'll never buy a "special" edition strap for more money.

They are meant to be worn, just like watches. But my hats always come out fine after being sat on.

Normal looking clothes, like my stuff, may or may not go outta style. But all that matters is that it's my style and makes it more unique the less people don't wear the same stuff I do.

Memories.  The hats were about memories.  Some of my very best in my lifetime. Who I was with, the places I went, the joy of going to games.

And as to my boots, mine are classics that will never got out of style...at least not while I'm still alive.

Cheers to that.  Just like people who bemoan getting certain types of watches cause the aren't in style. I wear what I want for me and no one else.

Hats, Sneakers, and Fountain Pens were my collection drugs of choice until this past year where watches took over.

Usually it's this, a little 38 Smith w/Crimson Trace laser in an IWB leather holster.  I have my concealed carry permit.

But for knives, these are my two.  A Buck folder for daily use, but for camping I take the unique one I purchased from pak_industry333 on Instagram.  Came with the sheath too.

Looks like Squeaker has things under control.  😄  Nice setup-i used to shoot frequently,  and carry concealed, but it's a perishable skill, and mine's dead. I'd be more danger to bystanders,  probably. Situational awareness is my first line of defense.  The Emerson or Yojimbo are the last line.

Your cat looks a bit worried

Actually it was the "feed me lunch" stare I get prior to every meal.  Cats are very routine-oriented as you may well know.  😉

·

Our cat just sits by the cupboard door where her foods stored ,some years ago we had to surrender our fire arms licences,my favourite was a Berretta 92f,I do get to shoot when I go on holiday to the USA

·

I'm at 12 or 13 bottles of scotch! I thought I had a decent thing going. Then you come in here with this 150 bottle nonsense and blow me outta the water haha

To be fair I also only have 12 bottles of Scotch

Hahaha. No, I don't keep the empties. But most of my liquor isn't Scotch. Currently my totals are like this (I'm a nerd and keep a spreadsheet):

Bourbon 65

Rye 19

Rum 16

Scotch 12

Finished Bourbon 5

Finished Rye 4

Irish 3

American Malt 6

American Whiskey 8

Brandy 5

Other 5

Tequila 2

That's a fantastic handgun!  Excellent ejection port, no stovepipes, and Beretta quality to be sure. Never mind the capacity!  🍻

I'm into sneakers and have many pairs. I also like to purchase old used ones and restore them. It's a great hobby that I really enjoy.

Being retired from the line trades, I have been collecting insulators for many years, also Beer coasters and Scotch.  Kinda all over the map with my collections.

Amazing scotch collection! Do you have a top 3? I'm big on my port Charlotte 10, Glenallachie 12, and my Lagavulin 11 nick Offerman special edition

·

Thank you, my go to Dram is Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask, followed by anything Glenlivet. and Bowmore 18.

·

Yeah that Balvenie sure is nice and then the islays lagavulin for a totally different thing. Being from south Texas I have a fondness for mezcals, but just a few bottles -as for collecting stuff it’s definitely musical instruments (mostly stringed and synth/keybords)

I love the casamigos mezca. Good stuff! I also have a few guitars
