Black Bay Pro & Tank Trade For White Speedy

The new white dial speedy has me feeling feelings.

Do I consolidate and trade on the pro and tank to fund the speedy?

Current collection:

Blue Omega SMP300M

Green IWC Pilot's Chronograph 41

Tudor Black Bay Pro

Grand Seiko SBGW287 (burgundy dial and strap)

Cartier Tank Must Large

Rolex Datejust 36 with blue fluted motif dial

Will trading the Datejust do it?

No way. The DJ is the king and stays. I'd only be willing to trade in the pro and the tank. The pro is great and I love it but I know it's an homage. And the tank is awesome and I love it too but I recognize it as the budget friendly tank in steel and quartz. Thus my logic for willing to let them go if it gets me a higher brand/icon like a white dial speedy or another rolex.

Would it be a straight trade, or would you need to add money? Sorry, haven't priced the new Speedy..

I'd have to add money. I don't think the pro and tank would add up to 8.1k. These trade ins would hopefully fetch between 6-7K combined based on quality

Wait 8-12 months for the hype to drop, grab it on trade for $6k-$6500. Likely get around $5k on trade for the BB Pro and Must. Again, I’d wait or be prepared to take a hit on another watch towards trade. Not worth it to me, but if you like it, go for it.

Two good watches for one good watch is not w good option

Yes. I am always for consolidating. Life is very short, just count how many days you will actually have the opportunity to decide what to wear. I would always try to wear the watches that make me feel great and looks great. These things are accessories, really no point buying and wearing something you don’t love. The only function that a luxury watch serves is to make you feel great. So make sure it does!!

Obviously this is a very personal choice. It doesn’t seem like you think much of the watches you’re considering selling, so maybe that’s your answer.

For me, I’d say absolutely not. First off, I don’t subscribe to your tiered watch view. I think anything rectangular made by Cartier stands on its own as a great watch. The BB Pro might be a homage, but I think Tudor gets a pass because it’s Rolex family. And I especially done think an Omega is trading “up”. They may be my favorite brand, but I don’t see how they’re a higher brand than Tudor or Cartier.

But most importantly to me, I don’t think this Speedy is that special. It looks great and I’d love to have one, but in the end it’s just a Speedy with a white dial. Unless it’s a precious metal or some crazy limited addition, I don’t think I’d dump two other watches for it.

But that’s me. Whatever you decide, you’re in a great position. Cheers.

Hell yeah, in a heartbeat!

I actually love both the pro and the tank a lot. Absolutely amazing watches. And I've built some great memories with them. But I also look at them from an objective view too in terms of brand, originality, function, etc.

Trade in value for BBPro is around $2k-$2500 Tank large would be around the same closer to 2k. I’d wait a few months. Expect to lose atleast 1k each. Grey market value of the pro is around $3200

Cartier made the first men’s wrist watch, basically invented the dress watch. The heritage and Originality is there 10 fold with the Tank. Just my opinion

C'mon... It's a Tudor with an upside down 8 at the 18 bezel mark and a Tank. You basically lose nothing in giving these away for the new Speedy.I'd do it in a heartbeat if I had them. "Unfortunately" I would have none of them in the first place because I find them utterly repulsive but hey: Trade them in and get a beautiful watch. You really only gain in that trade.

·

I would say no. And even if you do I highly doubt you can do that trade equaly as FRP new both watches together don't cover the new Speedy cost, let alone used. Hence, the gap is probably still 2-3k away and you are losing two great watches for another chorono you already have. Maybe consolidate IWC and Tank, you get all the money needed, replace the chrono for chrono and reduce one dress watch for which you are already covered with GS and DJ to certain degree.

·

Up to you homie. I would probably just save. Those three watches are all worth spots in your collection.
