How do you explain your purchase to your wife?

looking to hear some funny stories and creative ideas to justify a purchase.

for me, my wife already lost track of how many watches I have, so unless I get something outrageously different, it usually goes unnoticed. 🤣

sub $200.00 watch buying gets little attention here

·

I bring home the money she has no say

·

I sold my preloved stuff that’s been lying around the house through my social media account. So I don’t spend money from our savings.
At least that’s the theory.

The problem is I sold around 200 dollar of preloved stuff to buy a 700 dollar watch 😅

·

i find if I talk about a watch long enough and tell her I want it she eventually gives in and doesn’t mind me buying it 😂

·

Told her the other 30 watches were innacurate and only told the correct time abroad

·

Phsss!! I don’t need no stinking excuses!! Im a MAN!! I do what I want!!

Please don’t tell my wife though…she thinks otherwise…this is more me…

I do what every good watch marketer does. I show her the dial and talk about how unique and amazing it is. Then I talk about the story of the watch; it’s history and quality. I wait for her to agree or, more likely, nod and hmm in feigned interest. Then, in a few month’s  time, the watch appears. As do a massage and pedicure for her or some sort of offsetting offering.

I used to buy without asking her (and her being completely fine with it) but I actually find that running things by her prevents the really dumb purchases that end up being ditched in a couple months.

For example, every time I think about buying a dive watch, she reminds me of the attrition rate of dive watches in my collection (not a single one has lasted more than six months) and then I forget about it.

It honestly works surprisingly well.

One watch for each time zone lol

Nothing usually. That would mean explaining her purchases. I did just buy a Casio w217h for $10. When I got home, she ask if it was for her. I said fine, and went back the next day and bought another one and a Casio ae1200( also $10).

My wife and I each have our own “fun money” accounts. As long as the purchase is within my fun money‘s balance she really doesn’t seem to care. If anything she will encourage me to buy it because she know I won’t stop talking to her about it until I buy it

·

First rule of “watch collecting”…<you know the rest> Seriously though, she has some idea but as lomg as it’s my money and not hers or ours, she‘s fine with it.

·

I make sure to run all my potential purchases by my wife to get her approval

Don’t tell her. I’m sure she keeps elements of her hobbies to herself.

I made my money in Crypto

·

My fiancée had a tough time grasping how I could possibly spend upward of $3,000 on a watch… until I pointed out her tattoos cost nearly 3x that.

·

I show my wife a lot of watches and what I'm into, so she usually predicts when and what I'm gonne buy. I sometimes discuss it with her if I have bought and sold a lot of watches (and lost some money in the process) in a short while or if I'm getting something more expensive. But she always says: "You got money? Still, how?!? Then go ahead, I don't mind 😊"

·

My wife does buy quite a lot fountain pens and other stationary stuff. So we have some kind of "its your own money" thing. We both know its sometimes buying things you want, but don't need.

I buy what I want and so does she.
