The Rolex gmt is not and never was a tool watch. It was always a dressy watch. It was made for pilots to wear under their airline jackets, not military flight coats. You can see this in Rolex’s original adverts for the GMT.
I’m not trying to be negative towards you, you can feel however you’d like and like whatever you like. I just don’t want you to confuse Rolex’s intentions for the GMT as the same as the Sub and Deepsea and the Explorer.
Wow, very strong opinion for both options. I have a fluted bezel datejust with a Jubilee, looks awesome. For the GMT for some reason I feel the oyster looks better

It’s a sub with an extra hand and it was indeed a tool watch for pilots I didn’t think it was a military watch. It wasn’t made for pilots to have some nice jewelry to wear with their uniforms. It’s part of the professional line (tool watches)

I hear you, but if you’re to be wearing it with a suit, it’s not on the same path as a hammer.
As I stated, wear whatever you like, but it was always dressy, not necessarily a dress watch. Thats why Rolex has made the Cellini line and now the 1908 line. Those are made to be true dress watches.
Not a collector, regular guy been buying the typical watches based on looks alone. Now in my early 40’s with some extra cash, learning more about the craftsmanship and mechanisms

As pictured here:
Jubilee
Jubilee hands down!
Jubilee!
Oyster
GMT = Jubilee..SUB = oyster…. In my eyes anyway 😃
Jubilee for me.
The GMT needs a Jubilee. It’s a classy watch for a top professional like a Pan Am pilot.
Remember the class of the pilots on the movie “catch me if you can”? That’s on those wrists I see the watch being used!
I just love a Jubilee 😇
Big fan of the Oyster... seems to me a much cleaner look. But to each ones own..... would not turn my nose up to either

It’s a uniform not a suit, work wear and it was on a brushed bracelet for over 50 years
It moved to the polished centre links in 2007
Jubilee all the way. That was my only requirement for my purchase. I didn't care about which color I got so long as it was on the jubilee.
