Code 11.59, self winding 41mm date

I have been offered this watch within 1 week of visiting the AP boutique, no purchase history with the brand. This is the update version of the watch release in 2023. I opted for the rose gold. Not much information available in terms of market value for the gold version. Steel version sells about 15% below retail. Anyone knows better?

No idea, I just want to root for the 11:59, the last watch that keeps Audemars Piguet something more than a Royal Oak producer. And it looks nice too. Shame it doesn't have a hype potential.

Like that one.👍

I didn’t walk into the boutique looking for an RO. Just browsing and saw the steel version. For some reason the Green and Gold looked much better in pictures. Honestly don’t expect the call after a week. Particularly since the Watches & Wonder show being around, I am unsure if I should keep my options open. Then watch looks amazing to me and fits perfectly to my 17cm wrist

What do they mean by "selfwinding"? Are we talking about an automatic movement with a rotor, in which case it can be found on $20 movements and I don't see how that's a selling point. Or is there some secret perpetual movement tech hiding inside this watch? 🤨

·

I would start with, is it truly a watch you want? It is a lot of money to put down on something you are not sure about. It is a nice watch, not surprising it is available (it is in most markets), but if you really want it, go for it. Be prepared for a pretty significant hit (10k+) if you decide to unwind it.

Honestly, I don’t have an answer. As I said this was never in the radar, and never expected to hear back from the AD, at least not for the next 6 months. Thanks for your thoughts, appreciate it.

If you did not go in seeking it out, I would pass. That is serious money to have something you did not initially want. At that price point you are talking some heavy hitting alternatives.

Yes, automatic. Some brands prefer this term from the age when the invention was new and so was the terminology. Like Tudor, for example.

I like your taste. I really like the 11.59 and have put my name down. I'd expect in the same neighborhood for precious metal. Don't imagine the market is vastly different. Sounds like you are unsure. In that case I'd wait if I were you.

Preparing myself to say no. Is it just me and literally everyone finds it difficult to say no.

Forgot to mention, congratulations on the decision. Hopefully you’ll be enjoying your new watch soon

Don’t get sucked in to the dealer’s bullshit. Buy the watch if you love it, I would advise you not to buy it if you don’t love it and you are buying it to get access to other watches in the future.

These watches are available to anyone

I really like the 11.59. My wife and I were in the city for dinner and while she was doing some shopping I ran to the AP boutique and they had this available. I fell in love with the dial. The photo does not show the beauty of it. I was so close to pulling the trigger and buying it. I decided to hold off and now regret it. Guess it balances out the purchases I have made that I now regret. Haha.

They're trying to offload these to allow you to buy a royal oak. Don't fall for it

·

It's a beautiful watch... If you can buy it easily I'd do it, if it's gonna be a financial burden probably not.. getting it will get you to a Royal Oak at MSRP in the future though so that does factor in...

·

Maybe they mention it because the rich muggles who buy AP watches don't know what an automatic movement is. Or they think it's something spectacular that demands $30.000. 😂

In order to make a successful snarky comment you need to do a little research.

Indeed, RO at MSRP is a factor. But I just couldn’t do it.

An update, I have visited the AP, was offered a day to decide. I was also informed that the price in my local market was now revised for the new stock they just received, about 4% more than what I was quoted from a week ago. I compared the steel and gold versions, the gold definitely stands out. At the end though, I decided to pass. Secretly in my heart also said a pass to the hopes of ever getting an RO at retail. Thank you all for the kind words and advise, appreciate it.

·

It looks great but gat dang that price is worth a house and lot in my country 😅

Congrats on your new shiny watch 🥳

·

Okay; so someone posted an image of it with the phrase fashion watch and I haven't been able to get that out of my head since.

·

Can't see how a RO it's "anything" more than the watch in discussion, but that's me.

·

"I have been offered this watch" is manipulative/manipulated language. If this was one of those selling for more than RRP in the grey market then that kind of language would have at least some justification. This is just an expensive watch they want to sell. It is not "an opportunity", it is only a question whether you like it enough for that kind of money.

Right?! The 11.59 is such a good looking watch that’s just buried under the Royal Oak hype. I sincerely hope AP can rise above being the Royal Oak brand.

·

I would advice you to pass. From how you speak about it, it seems to me like a good to have watch and not something you genuinely want and I would strongly advice against spending that kinda money on something you don’t genuinely want.

Then again I don’t know how much money you have laying around so if this chump change to you, go for it.

I agree, I have given it a pass. Thanks

·

I would not get it. I don't think it is a good value for money. But if you like it, get it. That is all that matters

I didn’t get it, just struggled saying no to the AD, considering the next watch on the wishlist was an SS RO!
