Watch Crunch Can Handle the Truth!!

With the amount of counterfeit watches in circulation and that number growing exponentially it is becoming far more difficult for even watch dealers/professionals to vet them out.

Knowing Super Clones are out their would you consider purchasing one?

I wouldn't knowingly seek it out and purchase one.

I think the reason I’m so against clones / dupes / etc is because so many wonderful pieces can be had at each price point and I just don’t see the point of pretending your price point is higher than it really is

·

I would argue it is not that hard to vet them out, especially in hand.

·

It always brasses me off, that the exceptionally good copies it obviously takes a lot of skill. Why don't they start their own original brand, copies maybe, but like Pagani Design.

·

A clone is still a fake. Why would you want to add circulation and become part of the problem?

·

Fakes are for losers.

I read somewhere, or maybe it was a YouTube video… anyway that the Casio F91W is the most counterfeited watch in the world.

·

I'm into watches for the mechanical movements and authenticity. Fakes and homage pieces belong in the bin.

·

I really don't see the point. They will be expensive, without the pride of owning the real thing. I however get the idea of the inexpensive copy, because it is affordable, even to those who don't have the means to buy the original.

Well that's because about three times as many of that model legitimately made than the entire boring Rolex catalogue.

I approve of all counterfeits, but especially the ones that are hard to spot.

Bad actors always take the easy way out.

I don't see it as a problem.

Maybe you like a Willard and don’t have a grand? No to counterfeits. But homages / near clones (whatever that means) aren’t counterfeit & will save you significant cash.

That's like counterfeiting a one dollar bill.

So yeah-probably YouTube.

I don't mind buying an hommage watch, after all, every watch does have something inspired by other watches. Not everybody have 10K to spend on a watch, or is willing to spend that amount of money on a watch.

Buying a fake watch, like a counterfeit watch, hell no.

Homage means a lot of things to a lot of people. Not all homages are the same.

Fakes do belong in the bin.

The Breitling super fakes would argue otherwise. Scary stuff out there.

·

That is fair, I do not play in that space as most are a little too large for me, but I assume once you get the case back off all is revealed. Like anything, I gather it is how often one is around the real thing to be able to tell.
