Birthday Gift to my Son

It's my son's birthday today...he's a young 22 years old. His favorite color is blue and loves the water. The Habuka 39mm by Hitori seemed like the perfect choice. The dial has great textured detail that represents the waves in the sea. The finishing on the case is sharp and it has an open caseback with a blue rotar. The bracelet is solid as well.

He was thrilled when he pulled the watch out of the pouch. He's going out with friends tonight and is adjusting his outfit to match his new watch! Nothing like seeing your son's eyes light up with thanks and appreciation!

▪︎ The picture of the Sea below was from my trip to Turks & Caicos. Hitori got it right.

Thank you. I would not go as far as hand crafted. The aesthetics are sharp and the dial looks sharp. NJ35 movement. Link below.

A watch is a great gift for your son! I got the Block watch for my daughter (10) and if she seems interested in watches, I'll get her something more permanent in a couple years.

Forgive me - I've got to vent a bit about this company (info for @genxwatchguy1969 as well)

This is a fully Chinese made watch, that's contracted by Singapore company Gnomon - there is nothing Japanese about it. It's as Japanese as Pagani Design, Fngeen or Benyar.

Image

The webpage for it reads like an Ali express watch ad but with greater emphasis on hiding origin. I challenge anyone to fully read the text from that page and not think it’s somehow made in Japan.

Crafted to the highest standard, yet not found anywhere near the expected price point, the Habuka 39 Deluxe Special exudes marvelous quality with attention to details in their enduring accents that honor Japanese craftsmanship, particularly in watchmaking.

This imminent watch takes cue from the first Habuka 39 Snow White, grabbing the spotlight with its incredible nostalgic timepieces that redefine the classic style uniquely to the land of the rising sun. Made proudly in Asia to complete the savoir fairé, a versatile watch that reflects one of the snowy alps in Japan.  The sobriquet takes inspiration, or should we say, a playful twist from a village in the Japanese Alps known closely as “Hakuba”,

I'll admit, looks like they do an admirable job imitating the style of a GS dial. I love the dial of the SLGA023 since it looks like the water in Desolation Sound when I do offshore kayaking, a lifelong love of mine.

So the watch looks nice, but I hate their business practices.

At least the Aliexpress versions don’t push as hard pretending to be something they aren’t and are much cheaper.

The addisdove / Islander watch is only $150 CAN (maybe 90 USD?) with that same NH movement

Such a thoughtful gift to your son. I know he’ll keep and cherish it for many years.

·

Such a fantastic and meaningful gift! I hope when my son hits that age, watches will still be relevant enough for me to gift him one❤️

That's truly beautiful

Got a "Blok"watch for my granddaughter. She now only wants to wear a G-Schock (what I wear when landscaping on weekends). Love the "Blok" designs and their intended purpose for young kids. Thx.

Thank you. Those of us who are passionate about horology will do our best to pass down or even convert our kids into doing the same for their generation. Hoping for the best...

Fine gift to your son. That dial give me GS vibes.

Thank you and it does...he's not ready for that level yet. I have two years to figure out what his college graduation watch will be...
