Amazing shots, Dave. Love the channel by the way. I’ve been watching for a year or so. Also an affordable watch lover living in Japan. I was quick enough to get the Ginza Alpinist last year but I dig yours! DNA is right!
Gold and green is a winning combo! I was choosing between the Alpinist in gold that you posted and the new field watch SRPG42. I decided to go with the Seiko 5. I love the way it looks more bronze than gold that really suits the field watch vintage vibe and the moss textured dial is to die for. I switch between canvas and leather and love it on both - one outdoors casual, the leather more formal but not bling. Great choice and congrats on your Alpinist!
I really love that one too. The dial looks incredible and the movement is a triumph of engineering. The price tag is 4,000USD too high in my opinion, though. Hard to justify 15,000 USD for this when you can get the 3 Day SD diver for half the price…
200m or 300m is not really a big thing for me as it’s not relevant for anyone who isn’t a pro diver…
I love my Seiko solar quartz chrono which is a slight variation on yours. I too like the orange racing style and paired it with a Gulf racing colours nato strap - which as a McLaren F1 fan really speaks to me. Wish it was 40mm not 42mm though. Just a little bit big for this vintage style IMHO.
I LOVE my king turtle save the ocean dark manta. The dial was always a winner for me but it never really settled on my 18cm wrist until I found the Crafter Blue fitted strap. The grey really works with the blue grey of the dial and the aquanaut style square print really sets off against the squares on the bezel. Because it is is fitted it also balances the heft of the watch and is so comfortable. I find I wear this more than any other watch in my collection. Absolutely love it.
