Seiko Quartz Chronograph

I'm pretty new to the watch world and most of my watches are quartz and Ive been trying to get into the mechanical watches, BUT! This really cool quartz seiko popped out to me right away. It's racing style with orange accent really catch the eye. The hour markers really glisten in the sunlight and it's just a really sporty style.

I'm glad I can share with everyone this is my first post

Congrats on first post.  That’s a sharp-looking Seiko.  My issue with chrono-style watches is that many of their faces are so busy that you can’t tell the time with a quick glance - you have to have a real good look at them.  Having the hour and minute hands a completely different colour from the rest of the dial makes it easier.

Derailing the post a little bit but I agree! I also tend to divide chronographs into two categories: time-first vs. chronograph-first. Examples include the IWC Pilot Chronograph, which places emphasis on time vs. the above. I'm not a huge fan but I think the Speedmaster straddles that line very well.

Ah yes, the Seiko SSB series. You could just collect that type of chrono, and not run out of different watches to buy. Seiko seems to offer different models by region, and I have a version that seems to have appeared in Europe first. Overall they're just plain fun watches, and I'm glad to hear you are enjoying yours.

I love my Seiko solar quartz chrono which is a slight variation on yours. I too like the orange racing style and paired it with a Gulf racing colours nato strap - which as a McLaren F1 fan really speaks to me. Wish it was 40mm not 42mm though. Just a little bit big for this vintage style IMHO.

Nothing wrong with quartz watches. They're good to own, and there are plenty of affordable options out there, even from the Swiss brands. You picked up a great looking Seiko! Thanks for joining the group and making your first post. Also, welcome to the addiction, sorry, I mean hobby.🍻

Firstly welcome aboard mate.

Collect the watches you like and can afford, watch collecting is not a competition. Sure ask peoples advice and for input as to what is a good watch ect… but buy what makes you happy buddy. I like and own quartz watches and think there a great addition to any collection. G-Shocks are a great addition and excellent beater watches, quartz Seiko Chronographs, the older versions from my experience are good quality.

Anyway I hope you enjoy your time here buddy and we get to see some of your watches 👍

That dial is SHARP! Very nice. It's a lot less "busy" than mine. Awesome all around

Welcome aboard!

Chronographs are my favorite complication, and that one looks pretty sweet, especially paired with that strap.

Mechanical chronos are like kids. cute at first but can be a world of grief as teenagers, not always but high maintenance. Quartz does what Mechanical wishes it could do but outlives it on spite.

I got this watch a couple weeks ago.  The strap is awful, so I replaced it with a black/orange Barton Elite Silicon strap - made a huge difference.  I have enjoyed this watch a lot more than I'd expected.
