Theo & Harris ???

Has anyone here ever bought a watch from these youtubers? Imo their prices are absolutly insane. I think they ripp off new watch enthusiasts who dont know much about prices. For example a used oris big crown pointer date is sold for 1.850 bugs. Here in europe you get it for around 500 less:

Here are some other insane listings imo 😳🤯

I enjoy their videos, but I have yet to buy anything from them.  If I do, it'd likely be straps.

·

I’ve never been a huge fan of their videos- they seem like great people, but they come off as biased for me on a lot of their reviews, but no you are not crazy, these prices are pretty wild for pre-owned. With some patience, one may find these watches new at or around those prices (grey market but still).

Maybe they are taking the “buy the seller” idea a little too seriously 😂

·

I’m sorry I find those two knuckleheads annoying … and it‘s like they’re both secretly in love with each other… they both exudes pretentiousness…not my cup of tea…

·

Take their prices, like any independent reseller as the starting point. You can email and likely negotiate a better price with most places.

As for the videos? They seem like nice enough guys based one what we see. Their approach isn’t my style and the reality vs perception, like most channels, should be taken with a grain of salt.

·

If I was gonna be critiquing prices, I’d be a) comparing in the same geography / currency b) be comparing the exact same model and c) be disregarding outlets who are having a sale.

As others have said, take all offered prices as a baseline for negotiation / making an offer.

Not sure what your drive is here?

·

whao! Hence I don‘t watch them, why can’t I have an opinion like you do? I don’t have to agree with you or anybody like you, if you did not like my comment you may disregard and move on it goes both ways!  Ok just mute me like I mute you! Done!

·

Not that it matters but both guys have girlfriends.  Michael's GF seems especially awesome.

·

Chrono24 has the BCPD starting around $1200 new, and I got the bronze version for less than $1800, so that price seems high.  Only thing I'll note is I think they're putting their in-house movement into some of these now, which would drive up the price, not sure if that's the case here or not.

Personally, I like those guys and their videos.  The production values are great, they seem knowledgeable, and they talk about a lot of different watches.

·

I like Michael Krispy. He is obviously the brains of the operation 👍

·

I am a fan of their content but it is just entertainment. Theo and Harris' prices are insane & their videos have an extreme bias towards their goals - sales. Christian is a great marketer & he's just doing his thing.

·

insaner is right - it's all marketing.

In these and all other watch endeavors, try not to be a sucker.

·

Christian has a very high opinion of himself. Very high.

·

Can’t say much about their prices/services but if I were endeavoring to make a purchase I’d likely reach out via email to discuss (and maybe start with a strap).

As for the channel, I really enjoy their content. In a sea full of watch unboxings and reviews, having a couple guys just talk about industry news and releases is great. While they agree on quite a bit, I still find the back-&-forth banter entertaining. Bias is everywhere on YouTube but these guys at least seem to be upfront about why they don’t like a particular thing.

Exactly, and it's not like they sell a lot of modern watches anyway. Almost all are vintage, to the point the tab on their site just says vintage. The stuff on their site is just a small part of the operation. Their joint business is much bigger, working with a lot of big brands and for major events.

Michael also has his own youtube channels and starting his clothing line.

I purchased a strap from them. I asked if they could replace the default polished buckle with a brushed one. They said sure, but after waiting about 8 weeks without the strap, I gave up and told them to ship the polished one. Obviously, it was trivial for me to replace the buckle myself. Not impressed.

I am glad Christian Zeron's work has been rewarded by commercial success, but I found the early T&H vids, a 20 year old kid shooting in the back of a car or a random office, more vibrant, more sincere and relatable for a lot of budding watch aficionados.

That spirit has long gone and I have stopped following them on YT

·

I personally love their videos, Christian is one of the main reasons I got into watches in the first place, he’s clearly passionate about what he does and has made something great out of it. Plus the new weekly videos are hilarious keep me coming back to “watch” YouTube.

I am sooo glad I’m not the only one who thinks this! I cannot stand their pretentiousness
