That's probably what I'll do. The battery doesn't really seat in there which feels strange to me. The battery replacements I've done in the past, the battery stays in place when you take your hands away. This one seems to need the case back screwed on to hold the battery down.
Not really seeing any corrosion. There is like a little blue piece of plastic in there. I haven't seen this in my slim experience with quartz, but I'm under the impression that's supposed to be there
Found this at a vintage store for $5. I dont particularly have any clock interest, but being a mechanical Omega clock and at that price... I had to buy. My research says it's from the 40s/50s. Its not currently working (needs a new mainspring at the very least) the repair quote I got for service plus a mainspring was $500. I haven't shopped any other quotes yet, but I feel like I'll eventually go for it.
I've been in Chicago the last 2 years, it's completely worth going. 1) try on watches from brands you wont see in a store 2) meet the brand owners 3) be immersed in people who love this stuff
Pro tip: put your watch on your right wrist, keep that lefty free to try everything on.
