Tudor is the BMW of the watch world

With that being said:

Rolex = Porsche

As a car enthusiast this is the natural comparison that comes to mind, especially when I hear the moniker of Tudor being “Rolex’s little brother”. Every //M owner secretly wishes they could afford a GT3 911. While that is all I’m good banter, I understand that it could not be farther from the truth.

Is this a hot take? What are your opinions?

I vehemently disagree

·

Rolex is more Mercedes I would say. If we want to keep the little brother analogy.

·

Sinn is a G Wagon

·

Tudor is Volvo.

Handsome designs and good features, luxury without flash.

Ha. This is me. We’ve got a vw and a Jetta. Something really weird would have to happen before I bought a bmw.

😂 I’m sorry I was only joking

·

Tudor is a Honda odyssey and I love my odyssey

·

Well when it comes to my 5series there is no Porsche that I would substitute. But you are right, I am driving since many years now different kind of BMWs and a Porsche would be nice, too but next to my BMWs not instead of. And so is the comparison of the brands, I own a Tudor and two Rolex and I don‘t feel that the Tudor is kind of the previous chapter of Rolex. They are sitting side by side in my collection and I love them all. Rolex is more the RollsRoyce while the Tudor is the 7series. How about that comparison as RR belongs also to BMW Group.

·

But BMW is better than Porsche...

·

Swatch Group is VW Group.

Tissot = Volkswagen

Hamilton = Scout

Certina = Skoda

Mido = Seat

Longines = Audi

Omega = Porsche

Breguet = Lamborghini

BMW is JLC (with Cartier as Alpina and Vacheron as Rolls in this mapping).

Rolex is Mercedes. Which makes Tudor... Smart.

Excellent point of view, thank you for your input!

Brand perception is regional and personal, especially with cars. You poke the bear(s) and can expect controversial takes. It’s going to be fun :)

·

I'd agree with the hypothesis. I would like to say that in the analogy, Audi would be a better fit due to the parent/daughter company relationship with Rolex:Tudor.. But Audi's not nearly as fun as BMW 😜... so BMW sits nicely as a representation of Tudor.

I also like the Rolex/Porsche equivalent when you consider the vintage models/collector's models. Very apt.

Isn’t a Jetta a VW? Maybe you have a BMW but think it’s called a 330i😀

·

If Rolex is Porsche ( kinda agree on this one ) then I see Tudor more as Audi and not BMW ( same group/ownership )

·
