The journey of the Humble Travel Casio watch SO FAR #watchjourney2023

Hello Watch Friends! Quick update on the Casio.

My original idea way back when was to source a watch and find people to send it to around the UK or the world, @WatchCrunch appeared on my radar via a few YouTube channels I watched, I messaged @Max for a little advice and the idea developed, I planned logistics, compiled a list of participants “so many amazing people on this format said Yes to my idea and it became popular

So I bought a £20 #casio MRW-200H-1BVES (photo below) I bought a book and I asked the participants to take photos, write in the book and document where it’s been and what modifications if any were done to it Casio (I wanted the watch to be changed in any way possible, I didn’t mind what happened to it see my image below 😊) then add photos to @WatchCrunch and tag in the hashtag #watchjourney2023 when they received it/travelled about with it.

What I hope for 😂

This idea led onto a conversation with Danni @AboutVintage and the possibility of using one of their watches as a travel watch and auctioning it for a charity at the end of the journey. Amazing beyond my wildest dreams, see my other thread with regards the #aboutvintage travel watch.

Also whilst all this is happening I spoke to @williamwoodwatches with my idea of a travel firefighter watch, having spoken to Jonny he agreed and my idea will become reality as of next week, I have the watch and it’s heading to Rawdon Leeds UK after the 9th October, plenty of photos and stories to come. #williamwood

Here we go, nervous in the beginning, curious as to the reception it would get as I posted the journey along with the participants, NO NEED TO WORRY, everyone on here is so lovely!

So I packaged the watch up and started with Russ @Stracerwatches23 in the UK as he was the first person to show interest in the idea, he only kept the watch a short while but managed to get out and about and take a few photos in Lichfield, St Mary’s church and market square, The birthplace of Dr Johnson (forefather of the English Dictionary) Thank you Russ 🙏

See the #watchjourney2023 thread. Next stop Russ sent the watch to Mark @TyrogScot in Scotland, he took it out and about around Carnoustie, Arbroath and Dunnottar Castle among other places, he also modded the strap with a NATO in the Scottish colours of blue & white “fantastic😊 THANK YOU Mark!

The watch was then posted to Canada to Adam, see the package has arrived. @chunky

After a little break in the proceedings Adam came good with photos from a Baseball game and Niagara falls he also played a game of Soccer (Football) in it, as GOALKEEPER!

Thank you @chunky for the time spent with you, now on to @SpecKTator check out his posts on time with the Casio, Kevin did an amazing job of showing us around California and Disneyland, meals out and the Golden Gate bridge. He also modded the watch with colour on the bezel. A few photos here, but more on his page. 👍

Kevin has now posted the watch to @Okavangoup to you now” plenty more journeys to go and stories to tell, THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL INVOLVED THIS FAR 🙏

Hey @benandwatch has the watch ended its journey yet?

If it's still around, it's welcome to stay a few days in Dublin, Ireland.... where we could go out and have a Guinness in the oldest pub in the world (1198).

Let me know 🍻
