Alcadus Quantra

What do you guys think? I love micro rotor movements and this to me is like a nice Baltic MR01 upgrade with the sapphire crystal.

The movement is also nicely decorated.

Modern-style dress watches are great and I hope they become the next hot thing!

·

Its quite striking! Love it.

I absolutely love the look of the Quantra! It definitely feels like a step up from the MR01 with the sapphire crystal. I'm a big fan of micro-rotors myself, and seeing a decorated movement through the back is such a nice touch.

Have you considered the dimensions? At 36mm it might be a bit on the smaller side depending on your preference.

Looks awesome, but I just cant bring myself to trust these movements cause it just seems too good and inexpensive to be quality...i am probably biased and almost certainly ignorant. Maybe ask around for feedback?

·

Very nice. I've got another Kickstarter that I subscribed to and will wait to see how that concludes before jumping in again, which I think is prudent.

·

Beautiful looking watch!

·

I think Baltic killed it with the MR01 and the Chinese factories have started making similar. Too late possibly 🤷

Baltic is using the same movement and they offer a 2 year warranty. Plus the MR01 has been out for some time now so I think the movement has been well proven.

Looks like they are using a movement from the same brand as Baltic - Hangzhou - which I’m not familiar with. That said, I do love the micro-rotor and I’ve not heard anything terrible about the movement in the MR01, so I’m guessing it’s fairly solid. The price point is pretty damn good as well. I’m betting they sell a ton of the Salmon dial.

Gorgeous watch

I’ve joined a few kickstarters that didn’t launch, but this is certainly lovely

Nice looking watch, but a bit too small for me at 36mm. Right on point though for the current fad of smaller watches.

You should consider a bracelet option as that might give the 36mm more heft for those with larger wrists.

I feel you are right to be cautious. Even Baltic had issues with the movement at the start. Hopefully, they got it fixed. I'm guessing that which Chinese factory source matters a lot. And QC by the brand should really kick in hard at the start.

But I've read that there are inherent issues with a micro rotor due to physics.

I was thinking of Baltany when I first saw these.

The Hangzhou Watch Co has been making watches and movements since 1972. It is owned by the Chinese government. These Micro Rotor movements are known as the 5 Series.

Not with a micro rotor I don't think?

Wow! Thank you for that. I had no idea they’ve been around so long.

No. I think Baltany use the ST17 or ST19, but they've certainly produced a salmon dial watch that looks quite similar to the one above.

Yes I really like some of their watches.
