Zenith Chronomaster sport

I personally like the chronomaster sport. Rolex Daytonas are almost imposible to get at the rate their valued at.

I don’t understand why the hate towards the chronomaster sport. Since Rolex used el primero movements fore the Daytonas in the beginning.

There’s no hate, a fella that I am acquainted with sold his Daytona to a dealer for cash and Ymaster Rolex bought a black dial Zenith Chronomaster Sport. Says he is much happier not having to share his Daytona with interested watch guys who ask to examine. I have not jumped on the Zenith only due to servicing concerns.

People in the US are less familiar with Zenith, historically it was not present in the US market.

In the US zenith aftermarket services sucks really really really bad. I have a 2006 el primero chronomaster T moon phase. Zenith will not sell parts to 3rd party service centers. You have to ship it to LVMH NJ and more than likely it will come back with missing gaskets etc and you will sent it back. Happens to me every time. Unless zenith fixes this I am not buying anything from them. They are condescending and arrogant to deal with.

Love the #zenithtricolor chrono! Someday I'll bring one into my collection, but I don't ever see myself owning a #rolexdaytona

·

I didn’t know there was hate for the Chronomaster Sport. Who is hating? Ignore haters.

·

I know next to nothing about the brand but I’d buy that particular model in a heartbeat.

·

My AD (Melbourne, Australia) has just picked them up. The Chronomaster Original reverse panda has always been of interest and I gotta say - it was outstanding.

I'd prefer to own a Zenith Chrono over a Daytona tbh (4 digit or LeMans 100th Ann. being the exception ...). Otherwise I like the history, the movement 𝘢𝘯𝘥 the design language of the Zenith Chrono's way more.

This would be my number 1 choice if I were looking for a chronograph in the 10K range.

Anybody who disses the Zenith is just a pretentious watch snob who doesn't really know much about watches.

The only thing the Daytona has on the Chronomaster Sport is a better bracelet...let's all admit that, with few exceptions (Parmigiani being one), Rolex makes the best bracelets for any watch.

Everything else about the Chronomaster Sport blows away the Daytona unless you have a pet peeve about the date at 4:30 (which I do not...I am one of the oddballs that loves the date at 4:30 and despises the date at 3:00).

So Zenith haters can just shout at each other in their little room while the rest of us enjoy a spectacular sports watch that looks and runs amazing...

That would be one of the best blind decisions you would likely ever make.

Zenith is fine. But if you just wait a while, you can soon get a Daytona if you really want one, and not from the flippers.

·

As a Zenith Chronomaster owner and potentially in the market to upgrade I wish they'd just put a vaguely useful Tachymeter or Pulsation meter on the bezel and had the hand go round normally. The 1/10th second is just a bit of party trick, rather like the Foudroyante on the JLC chronos. Even with that said, I'd rather this than a Daytona any day - I can actually read the subdials.

Would disagree there is hate for this watch. It’s a beauty!

Second this. Beside 4.30 date and less than impressive clasp this is a hell of a watch. Those two reasons are why I won't consider buying, my personal dislike

I have owned a couple of Zenith watchs and they were just fine. When this piece came out my AD called and I went to look at it. Great watch..only I have no use for timing functions. I do have a use for the tach scale. JMO

Very true...Zenith/Movado used the Zenith brand in Europe and other parts of the world and the Movado brand in the USA (due to conflict with Zenith electronics).

You can find the exact same models branded with either Zenith or Movado, but otherwise identical.

Here is a great example from the 1970s...the "Big Blue" with Movado branding...notice it is using the El Primero movement and branding on the dial...

There’s no hate. But the issue i have is that the 1/10th chronograph is super useless, i just can’t find a use for it. The bracelet and clasp is surprisingly quite poor imo.

·

Price went from 10k to 11k and I lost interest

·

What hate? It's a fine watch that manage to have a unique and distinctive look.

·

No hate I’ve ever come across ? It’s a watch I would happily own ! Please clarify where you read any articles bashing this, please link the articles or channel ! Keen to go on the attack …

Servicing ? The El primero movement as far as I am aware is one of the best integrated automatic chronographs on the market in its movement construction period …. Oh well maybe Omega could give it a run for it’s money with its newest movements .

My concerns are not actually with the architecture of the El Primero movement more my unfamiliarity with the service centre here in Toronto for Zenith. One friend claims less than outstanding experience, of course that is just one guy’s opinion. My ad assures me the service centre is top notch. The real problem might be the other brands he retails such as Grand Seiko often distracts me. Lol

Beware that there is an issue with the el primero movement on the CMS - at least the earlier versions. It’s well documented online, I know there is a long thread on watchuseek discussing it.

If you get one, make sure it still has warranty. Also, get it on a strap as the bracelet and clasp are horrible at this price point.
