Say Hallo to my little friend - vroom vroom

Is it subtle? No, not a bit. Does it have a design that speaks to everyone? Probably not. Is it a watch I normally would go for? No it isn’t. But here I am with my first Micro brand watch.

I don’t have the chance to see the numerous Micro brands on the market. I can certainly see them on the internet and on WatchCrunch in pictures. But not able to see them irl and hold them and put them on the wrist. Last weekend, however, I had the chance to see what Scandinavian watch brands was capable of. There were a lot to see with a range from classical to more experimental designs.

A brand I was particularly drawn to at Stockholm-Time was REC Watches. A Danish brand that use parts from old motor vehicles.  RECover, RECykling and REClaim is where the name come from. I don’t think is primarily environment driven. Rather the story the reused parts give to their watches.

As stated above, this is not what I normally look for and wear. But this RNR Arkonik with parts from a Land Rover Defender made a huge impression on me. Primarily it was the alumium dial that captured me. A very industrial look. Later I noticed the details with elements borrowed from the actual car. For me this is one way for Micro brands to stand out from a crowd. With a design that established watch brands don’t go near. I found it fantastic and a splendid opportunity to dip into the pool of Micro brands.

The watch is 40mm, 12mm thick and a tip to tip of 48mm. It has a Sellita movement inside.

Love it..very unique, and def not subtle about being decidedly different.

Looks great. I wish I could pull that off 🤣

Thank you! I love it too. Very different even if this squared case isn’t unique.

I’m not sure I do either but I will have a go at it👍

Diferent with style, a watch with its own personality

Just bought an REC as well - made with spitfire fuselage. They just released one made with the gearbox of Evel Knievel’s last stunt bike… an awesome brand.

This is mine by the way - a bit more classic than yours (I love yours just to be clear!) but also reflective of the aviation theme.

Those looked great. All 3 colors where available at Stockholm-Time. They had the Even Knievel at display as well.

Normally that would be the one for me but I couldn’t resist the Anikar.

They also do motorcycles and air fighters. Everything with an petrol engine, except from lawn movers (at least up til now).

The man who invented darkness. No, not yet.

Looks great. Great to have something unique.

Looks even better from your shots than on the website! 🙌🏼🤩

Thank you! This one from their website I like. I wear denim shirts frequently.

First thing I thought of when I read REC is recording and it slightly reminded me of a vintage video camera but after reading your post I think that is a wonderful approach to designing a watch. Why wouldn’t you want recycled parts in a unique watch on your wrist? Also thanks for putting that brand on my radar. I hadn’t heard of them before!

You are welcome! New aquintance to me as well.

I can totally see why. It’s really unique.

Steampunk vibes.

This was the DeLorean lot… I thought I recognised the brand.

Re- or upcycling of parts is a novelty, but I think it works well. This might be a bit too much for me in terms of your model as I tend not to stray too far from round cases, but the Spitfire is pretty palatable.

I hope you enjoy it.

Ah nvm, I should have just kept scrolling 🤣

Great watch and went for the same one, just trying to find sunburst alligator leather strap for it to match the numbers

·

Looks great! Good for you.

·

It's not the look to which that I'm usually attracted, but I'll admit that it looks different enough to catch my attention.

·

I like that a lot. The date complication revealing itself works for me.

I feel you. This is my 2nd squared watch.

Yep, part of the charm to me as well. A lot more going on ’cause of the sub dial and date sector of the dial.

Subtlety is overrated at times!!! 😀 Very nice! REC is a great brand and this watch has both class and character and individuality in my opinion. The watch has to suit you and no one else!

Thank you! Yes, this is a refreshing change.
