I was gifted this book recently. Haven’t read it start to end yet but enough to promote it. It’s ”THE WATCH - A twentieth-century style history” by Alexander Barter.
I have had some difficulties to find watchbooks that live up to my expectation. Too dated, too expensive, too you name it. This book I find to be a real gem. Great mix between illustrations and informative text.
The chapters are divided in decades. Within each decade there is sub-chapters, typically functions or complications. 335 pages in all to a decent price.

Nice find!
Nice find!
I’m pretty pleased actually. Even if it was a gift I did hinted about it.
Good call. While A Man and His Watch is okay, this one is much more in depth and educational.
One of my favourite books. Really great overview of the history of wristwatches and amazing photos of some beautiful examples. That Patek 96 in steel on the cover is so good.

And you can still use it as a chapter book. Enjoying it bit for bit.
