The despair of the Seiko Presage

I have been binge watching a lot of Seiko Presage videos recently. I wonder how they compare to the dial of the Helm Miyako...

Anybody have thoughts or recommendations? Should i be aiming to get a Presage next? I also have an Orient Bambino Cream dial which is lovely, so there may not be much point.

Clean look.

Your Helm is more clean and flat coloured, I really like the stepped outer ring for the numerals and it is very well done. Seiko Presage dials even though stamped have more dimensions and different surface finishes to play with the light which for the price range is in a league of its own and hard to beat Seiko when it comes to dials.

If you want a clean dress watch, the cream dial Bambinos are very beautiful with contrasting blue hands. Cannot go wrong with that. Or if you like a little more flare then Presage is the better choice. What Presage model do you have in mind?

I love Persages esp. enamel and porcelains dials … I have posted a few of mine earlier …

Yes I have the exact Bambino you described with the Roman's. Love it! I was thinking of the Matcha dial, it is mesmerizing. The Miyako takes some elements from it but is a lot more subtle. Of course, the fact that it is heavy tool diver makes it more useful everyday

That is absolutely insane. I definitely want to add a Matcha green Presage but they are a limited edition. Hoping to hold out for something like that in the future, after I get my grail of course!

Clean look.

Thank you!

I love mine. Definitely has some JLC/Omega/Blancpain vibes going on. IMO best bang for buck intricate dial, not too mention a good dive/tool watch to boot.

Mine says hi! 🤘🏻🤙🏻

Beautiful shot! Yeah I really do like it. Stops me from wanting a Panerai or IWC! Really tough too

I’ve only tried the one Presage as I’m generally a Prospex fan (being more into the dive/tool watch look) but I do really love my Presage’s dial.

·

Yes, get the Presage. You’ve already watched all the videos

The style of dials are vastly different. Both unique. I think you can love them equally.

yours seems to mee more unique 👍

I don't know why you'd go from looking at dress watches from a heritage brand to wondering about dive/sports watches from a microbrand... they seem quite disconnected to me? Very hard to compare.

I initially bought the Helm as a Dress Diver, something that could be a one watch collection. It almost made the cut but I think it just doesn't grab me the way a Presage does, specifically the Matcha Green dial.

It’s common, but always bugs me, when Chinese watches use Japanese for it’s name. I guess it Implies more quality than calling it Shenzhen or Ghongzhou. As you probably know, Miyako is a girls name in Japan and can also mean ‘pretty girl’.

Senor Bunz ( @Ichibunz ) is a world authority on Presage and can speak in incredible detail on all the best designs. 🙇‍♂. Trust in his $0.02

For myself: I love the simple and inexpensive cocktail time series, so many stunning dials among them

The ~$800 Hemp leaf kimono pattern series looks fantastic in person, I love the red fume colorway

And the shippo enamel dials of the high end ones are stunning, I asked the dealer to let me take it outside to shoot this in the sunlight!

Yes I've followed him! Yeah Seiko dials are a class of their own!

I was so, so close to getting a Sharp Edge 3hander in February, but decided to move forward with a Hamilton Murph 38. Not because I don't like the Seiko, but because 40mm is way too big for a 3hander for me.

I think that Presage line is absolutely amazing, a top finish for a money, and they have an enamel dial people can actually afford.

I'm not a big fan of usual Orient suspects like a Bambino, Mako, Kamasu, etc, but their 3-star collection is also super awesome dials-wise.

Thank you! Beautiful watches all. I have a Bambino and very happy

Too busy for my taste, though there are a few busy presage models I suppose. I prefer my plainer ones.

I can definitely see it being a little busy. Sometimes simple is better

Despite the occasional QC issues, I find Seiko does great dials. This was an amazing deal at $350.

Love it! Just an insane dial.

" . . . Seiko dials are a class of their own!" They are, and that goes for every price range too, from Essentials, to Presage, to Grand Seiko, to Credor. And I just bought a little 36mm Alba (Seiko Japanese sub brand) for $60, and I swear it thinks its beautiful deep inky black dial is really enamel.

That's one of my favorite Seiko dials. I'm glad you got such a great deal. I have 12 Seikos, none costing more than $180, and every single one has a stunning dial.

And your watch has a bonus too, that nobody mentions. How ABOUT that bezel?? I guess the dial is stealing all the thunder though.

Nine Presages! There's no choosing between them. You'll just have to wear 4 on one arm and five on the other.
