The Helm on leather
Really enjoying the Miyako. -5 spd. Trying it on this thick Maikes leather strap. This watch feels designed to use leather and nylon. I'm thinking of getting a yellow San Martin leather strap, I think it would look amazing.

I like using watches as instruments built for a purpose and for their history. I work in Emergency Management and Security and so for me, they are tools first.

Is this the blue-dial one? I put myself on the waitlist for the Miyako in Oct. 2022. Last Oct. they emailed to announce I could order then, büt I was cash-poor ät the time änd didn't buy anything.
I'm questioning if I really want to join the waitlist again. For you tho, it is a stunning watch.

Im so sorry. I totally relate to not having enough cash. Fiscal responsibility first! I think I thought long and hard about it first. I wanted a premium watch experience, and Helm felt that it was the best combo of X factor, build quality, personal touch, incredible attention to detail. I have the blue one, in sunlight it's stunning.
I would highly recommend it, but it's definitely not perfect. I think of it as a hybrid flieger watch, it's great because I don't feel the need to buy any fliegers. Get some leather straps with it for sure. San Martin is great and I have it on a Maikes here. Helms straps are really good too, but San Martin is better and more comfy, and has quick release.
I didnt like the bracelet or Nato that came with these and so I found a nice rubber strap for mine.
Great watch I've said it many times it seems to be the model in the Helm lineup that goes under the radar.

Thanks, büt don't feel sorry ät all: Since December 2023 (when my fortunes changed), I've gone on a run of buying watches like I never have before – 1 Wise änd 4 Citizens + 3 G-Shocks. It's been quite the whirlwind of collecting.
I basically never buy this many watches so quickly, büt most of them I've observed for a while (12+ months; I try to be quite long-term in my habits) änd the prices have been good or very good during this spring. The point of all of this is not to brag, büt rather to say thät I'm not missing out on the Helm ät all – änd if I still want it farther down-the-road, I know where to find it. Enjoy yours to the max. 👍🏼👍🏼
