Micro brand - Riding Time

A friend of mine is a watch manufacturer in China. We’re designing a watch together and hoping to start a micro brand. This is sample number 1, love to hear the community’s thoughts!

1) So far, we’re thinking making the “automatic smaller”

2) Using a better lume

3) Rethinking over the date window

I LOVE the look of first sample! Definitely has "Alpinist" vibes goin' on! Very, very nice! 👍

·

What are the dimensions?

·

I agree that the word Automatic needs to be smaller. It's overpowering the dial.

·

Can you provide us with a better picture? Better as in clearer picture on white light so that we can see the dial better? Seems the color is interesting mix of purple and green.

·

4) add a couple mm to the hour hand.

·

Love the texture of the dial only things I suggest are maybe a border around date window to match indices and maybe make automatic smaller font

·

Yes smaller script.

Loose the date altogether (or if you absolutely insist on one then the placement is ok, just colour match it or make it dark so it's easier to ignore. )

Offer it with & without fauxtina, it's not everyone's cup of tea (tho I love it!)

Design looks decent, maybe a little bit generic. I get it's a "safe" design, but there's lots & lots of safe designs out there, maybe give it something to make it stand out from the others. Something quirky or to give it it's own character. I'm sure it's not easy to design a timepiece, and it's very easy to criticise.

Good luck mate 🤞🏻

I’d make the automatic text and the logo both a bit smaller. The logo only a tiny bit. It looks too tall to me. The automatic text could probably be ~25% smaller. Really love the design though!

·

From the picture provided (would love to see more clearly) love the dial color and texture. Arabics have a Tudor Ranger look which I personally am not a fan of, but lots of people are. Droppinf the automatic font down quite a bit will help keep your clean dial looking organized and not cluttered! Well done, can't wait to see the end result!

·

Really like the overall look and especially that textured dial! Keep going , you'll get it all 'dialed' in (see what I did there?)

·

Inspired by Baltic Hermetique?

Anyway, I don't think a date really works with this design. Only a pointer date would, but that the while dial would need redesigning. On the upside, it would look less like the Baltic. And yes, scale down the "Automatic", perhaps mute the colour a bit.

·

I like the dial color. My suggestions would to make Automatic smaller and a font that more closely matchs the numbers. On the date window I would move it to 3 or 6, enlarge slightly and color match background to the numbers to provide more balance to the dial

·

As others have said, smaller font for the "automatic" script. No-date should at least be an option. While the photography is interesting, at least one shot with the watch fully illuminated would be nice. Do you know the ballpark of the price you are targeting?

·

Love the direction your going in 3 6 9 12 is my favourite dial way has to be for me 38 to 40 and I love the lugs .👍

Not Baltic actually but I do agree with no date🙏🙏

Hmmmm personally, I am thinking 350-400 but we’ll have to do more research

·

I love that classic field style design. My feedbacks would be:

  1. 40mm for a bezel-less watch is sometimes a tad too big for some wrists, perhaps you can make a 38mm option available?

  2. Need to downsize the "Automatic" text, perhaps to half of the current width

  3. May be you can make a BGW9 lume version available beside the current fauxtina lume version

  4. I personally prefer no date for this style

  5. Drilled lugs would be ideal for easier strap changing

  6. The logo kinda has similiar shape with Tag Heuer's logo, perhaps you can use a different shape/style to make the logo more unique

Good luck mate! 🍻

Typical dimensions. Not sure how you're going to stand out from the rest of the crowd.
