The Essence of Rolex / Which Rolex is the most „Rolex“?

Here is my 16234 from 1990 and I think it gets very very close to the essence of Rolex in terms of elegance and Design, what do You think?

Which Rolex is the most „Rolex“ ?

What is your Pick for the quintessential Rolex?

Yeah i'll go datejust, thought which reference would be up for debate. I know the Sub will be right up there, but i think when i was a kid, the Datejust was the one I thought of

Thank you 🫡

Growing up in the 60s, I loved Rolex before the Submariner hype. All the wannabe double-ohs killed it for me! 😊

For me the GMT is the Rolex more Rolex

I think the obvious one for me has its origins in the 1980s & that is either the two tone Datejust with the fluted bezel & Jubilee bracelet or the all gold model, same specs.

These watches were what every successful pro golfer was wearing back then & at that time I was very active in the sport. Neither are the Datejust I'd pick to wear myself as I'm not into gold watches. I far prefer the model you have which is beautiful.

·

For me it would be the OP.

It's the Datejust. The same clock they use on airport signs.

(edit: it's missing the date?)

It’s gotta be the datejust all the way. When I think of Rolex since I was young, the Datejust is what came to mind.

·

When I was younger, I saw Subs as THE Rolex. But I understand now how DJs are just as iconic. So both!

·

I’d fully agree. The white dial with Roman numerals, with the fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet are a truly beautiful combo.

Oyster Perpetual

·

I think it's the Oyster Perpetual and the Datejust.

·

Datejust, Submariner, and GMT Master are what make Rolex, Rolex imo

·

President or DD. It’s the most Rolex Datejust there is. Cyclops, President bracelet, all gold, 100m WR, luxe, elegant, sporty, and All Rolex!

Oyster Perpetual - with or without a date.

·

I think it has changed over the years, but I’d say that the Submariner is the one that comes to mind. Before it would have been the OP

·

DJ.

·

Gotta be "the Hulk". Classic diver in Rolex green.

·

A great choice! Wear it in good health!

·

I think the Sky Dweller is peak Rolex craftsmanship. But that dial sure is mesmerizing, very nice to look at!

DJ bimetal or DD YG. Both are quintessential Rolex.
