Project for Dad

I’ve never gotten emotional working on a project, but yesterday I was going through my late father’s stuff and found a watch he wore for a long time. Seeing this in a drawer leveled me.

While doing construction for decades, this watch was on my dad’s wrist helped put food on the table and a roof over our heads.

I’ve never been more honored to hopefully bring a watch back to life.

Wish me luck!

Good luck! I hope you are able to get it functioning again and can wear it in your father’s memory!

A true tool watch of the highest order because he used it as such. Good luck!

·

You can do it bro. I have a Timex of my dads that I only wear occasionally

We will all need pics when it's up and going.

Thanks!!! Looks like water damage on the internals, gonna look to replace the board inside and give it another go once parts come in…on the hunt now for matching stuff!

That’s a meaningful project, one that will be undoubtedly have a place in your heart. 🥹 Please keep us updated, and post a picture of it on your wrist. I know it will bring a big smile to his face as he ‘watches’ over you. ❤️

Boom!

Gonna hit the plexiglass with some PolyWatch (thanks for the tube Lorier ;) and add a strap and we’re in business. Watch I found this spare on eBay said “lume doesn’t work”…got it…next project is to get the lume to work but …a little different model but made it work.

Excellent! Good job!

·

Good work, well done.

·

Excellent work, sir!

Working on quartz digital is so daunting to me.

I just can't think of the parts in a way that makes sense. Like the module is a part that is made up of other parts, but theoretically one or multiple of the parts can be broken so which is it?

I was in the same boat…so replaced all internals except metal bars for the pushers

I'm so envious of people who have the skill and patience for this kind of thing.

Thanks friend…no baby yet by the way….Honestly, just knowing that this was the watch on my dad’s wrist as he worked to put a roof over our heads and food on the table makes it priceless. Stoked my kiddos get to play with it now and have it with the family.

Ha! My pops would have said “Why did you waste money on that?!?” :)

·

Putting in that good work! I’m sure your father is proud of you. Keeping a part of him alive and ticking (not literally), ready to remember him by…that’s solid! Cheers good sir… 🥃🥃

It’s a sentimental thing.
