Own watch brand

Have you ever wanted to create your own watch brand? What kind of watch brand would you like to create?

As an artist and designer, hobby wise at least, I sometimes consider getting involved in it. I‘d be better off getting my designs to people that can use them frankly. But maybe it’s best left to George Bamfords of the world.

I enjoy the art, design and engineering of watches. If I had to do it myself, it would feel like work. So, for me, happy to be a collector. Probably best to focus on making money at something I’m actually good at, too 😉!

i would go with vintage inspired model with modern touch

I would like a dial and case that remind me of "German austerity" in a simple three-hander watch. Unfortunately these components are pretty hard to find.

Definitely! I am pretty sure most people into this hobby have had this thought before. I thought of so many things, but in the end, it's a big risk and takes a lot of effort!

My brand would be plain simple tool watch asthetic with Arabic numerals at the cardinal points sword style hands no date/ date option with great bracelet and adjustable clasps with easy to use on the fly adjustment .

They would tend towards the pilot / field vibe but would have useful WR of at least 200m . 20 mm lug to lug as and in arrange of sizes from 34 to 41 mm. Steel only, though with a veiw to using Titanium on one eventually if there was enough demand.

I would definitely have a range of dial colours but black and white dials would be the bread and butter.

As for the brand name and logo , I'm not sure and need to think about it for a while. I'll get back to you on that score.

Think that about covers it. Oh yeah well I would pitch the price point in at the similar level to Islander watch so nice and affordable as I see this watch as a tool for your working / exploring kind of person.

I think about it every single day. Everytime I swipe my feed on Instagram or here on WC, seeing watches I find beautiful or intersting designwise but something is wrong with the hands, the case, the date, the size... I tell myself "stop complaining and get your own design, build your dream"... Didn't jumped in the rabbit hole yet

Every time I get frustrated with not finding exactly the watch I was imagining.

I will give an example of what I am talking about: I was looking for a serious diver to add to my collection and I had some criteria. then I found something that fit all of the criteria (almost) and I loved the design. I proceed to look at it further and discover it’s 44mm which is an absolute no go for me.

i experienced this multiple times.

anotherone real quick the SERICA GMT absolutely love the design and everything else works too besides. It doesn’t have a date and I found that I really want and need a date on my watch.

very frustrating

I've been fantasizing about that, and even made a few designs. If I ever try to market my ideas, I'd probably start with a simple dial-and-hands modding kit for a popular modding watch like Seiko or Vostok. It's gonna be 50s/60s retro-futuristic designs - the watch George Jetson might wear :)
