Small wrist woes

Hey guys,

I’m pretty new to this hobby, about a year in. I have small wrists (around 6.25 inches) and have done the research into smaller watches that fit this small size.

I’ve seen the usual well known suggestions, but wondered if there are any lesser known offerings that I should look into, £500 and up.

Any suggestions are appreciated,

Thanks.

I have a 6.25 wrist as well and although 40mm watches aren't ideal, they don't look too bad. Just go for it with the 40mm. Happy shopping!

·

RADO has some smaller dials and a fair selection. Centrix or Captain Cook. Tissot some old school sizes and looks, Longines as well for classic and modern smaller dials. Most of all, buy what you like and don't overthink it. A bigger dial can be made to look smaller with long sleeve or bracelets (beaded/leather) on either side of the watch..

I have roughly the same size wrist. Depending on the brand, I can push up to about 42mm, but prefer to stay sub-40mm if I can. Recent >$500 watches that have fit me well:

• Nivada-Grenchen Super Antarctic (38x44.6)

• Traska Venturer GMT (39x46)

• Serica 4512 California (37.5x46.5)

• Christopher Ward Sealander GMT (39x44.5)

Nice Serica 4512!

I'd wholeheartedly recommend Lorier, any of them.

Also really digging my Imperial Royalguard 200 but think they are out of stock atm.

Don't be afraid of slightly bigger FYI. I have about the same size and routinely wear divers in the 40-42mm range also. YMMV, but tuna style cases fit well even though they are bigger. And lug slope/shape/length plays a big deal too. Here's some bigger sizes for reference:

Edit: Due to angle of some shots looks like there's overhang but I assure you there's not.

Vintage is best but also Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer

Similar sized wrist. Falcon III is a great fit! Good specs for the price as well.

·

Lug width is everything with a small wrist. My 39mm Tudor is longer on my wrist than my 42mm Islander. Everyone suggested the 38mm Hamilton and I hated it on my wrist.

·

Orient or seiko is always a good place to start.

·

My wrists aren't much larger than yours and I can still wear the giganormous Bulova lobster.

It's just a matter of getting one that fit your style and even if you think it's a bit too large, so what? It's your wrist and in nobody notice people wearing watches anyway.

I’m a 6.0 wrist - 6.25 sounds big for me!

Having been doing watches a couple decades now I think : sod the numbers and try it on!

A 39.5 PRX is too big for me and a Ti 44mm GS diver feels great

Wtf right?

A Seiko Turtle is a huge hunk of steel 45mm wide steel, and it wears so comfortably on a 6 inch wrist. I never would’ve guessed it but tried one on for kicks.

Find some watches you love and give a test drive. It’s the only way for the small wristed among us

I have a 6.25" wrist as well, and what I've found is anything with 18mm lug width/straps just looks like I'm wearing a women's watch. So I stick exclusively to 20mm lugs.

Really liking the look of that Imperial, particularly the unique orientation of the major indices. Picked one up shortly after reading this!

One of the key reasons why I picked it up. Originally wanted their ghosted/faded blue, but the tropic bezel interested me.

The burgundy hue, with the box crystal, indice shape and color......it's really growing on me.

got same size and digging 36mm-38mm watches

traska commuter 36mm = op36 for 595

brew has cool chronographs

new seiko divers SRPK29 38mm for around 300

I have 7 inches wrist, so a bit larger, but still love that Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Mechanical, which is around 36mm, I reckon it's perfect for smaller wrists. Might be a bit over budget but not by much I think... A perfect everyday watch, if you're not afraid of the mineral crystal!

give Serica a look.

That color was indeed sold out, but I was happy to pick the green version. We'll see if it works as well as burgundy with the gilt accents! This will actually be only the second watch in my collection to have any gold elements, so I'm curious to see how I feel about it.

Vintage watches could be a good shout.

I have big wrists and find vintage watches hard to pull off.

·

If I had a smaller wrist I'd be very much considering one of these:

Sjöö Sandström Royal Steel Classic 36mm

They make a 41 version, but it doesn't have that wide-stance 1:1.8 lug width to diameter ratio.

I think any of these faded bezel color will work. The dial has a nice enamely (🤔) black, and the vintage lume color means it will go with most usual suspects rather well.

The faded bezel color isn't as bright and in your face, so it compliments rather nicely and plays off other colors. Or you can highlight it by using it as a contradicting, almost clashing color.

And yes I sometimes use a color wheel for funsies.....because I wanted a definitive answer to what colors compliment each other. 😂

Longines Spirit 37 is a great daily 3-hander. I particularly love the champagne dial.

·

Thanks for introducing me to the King Seiko line.

Ebel. Their older watches are incredibly well made. The 1911 is one of my favourite designs of all time already but also really well suited for smaller wrists. A NOS Ebel 1911 with single screw link bracelet is a better watch for the money than any other new watch I have ever seen. Think GP Laureato but with an 85% discount 😀 some of the Ebels even use the same movement.

I have a 6.25" wrist too and their 39mm model is no problem and the 40mm discovery diver isn't either. Servicing them is a b!tc#, all proprietary case parts, gaskets etc. even with the ETA equipped ones, but I find that a small tradeoff. The brand is still around but their current watches aren't as great a deal anymore ... 😕

·

I have a 6in wrist and I tend to wear 38-40. Lorier makes amazing watches in the size and price range. I have a Skyward Hyperion and it's been my favorite purchase of the year so far.
