Birth year watches

How many of you try to pick up a birth year watch in your collection? If you have one post it down in the comments. I was always on the hunt for a 1986 Pepsi Jubilee Birth year and after a year and half of searching I finally found one a month before my birthday I actually found one at a fair price.

I've got this 1973 Seiko 5 Actus that is not just from my birth year, but the same month. We both came out of our factories within weeks of each other.

I’m trying to not order this birth year 1968 King Seiko as I’ve bought three other watches this month. Aaaargh.

This is my 1979 Omega Geneve birth year dress watch. Doesn’t tell the best time and runs about +15spd.

My birth year watch is a Seiko 7a38-7290 quartz chronograph, made in 1988.

Says it was made around the time of my birth year 1989 but I know this was also refurbished since then in India so

It’s the closest thing I have to a birth year currently though. Ohh yea it’s a his and hers as well as my wife was born the same year and it how I was able to convince her to weare a watch. 😈

When I was born watches were small , unadorned or hugely expensive so no 1961 watches for me thanks . I couldn’t bear it , both the cost and the worry of getting one wet or banging the acrylic crystal.

The insides of my 1969 Omega Constellation. Like me it now requires an occasional oiling for it to keep going smoothly.

Part of my love affair with the Seiko Marinemaster 300m is the original came out in 1967 like me

Do it,that’s a good looking watch.I doubt you’ll get another opportunity like this.

You're lucky to be young enough that your birth year watches are sufficiently advanced enough to not be crap and fragile...

That's why my "birth year" watch is/are my Seiko 1970 Willard reissues.

My Seiko Quartz QT, birth year 74

This CWC G10 from 85 is mine. Buying more expensive vintage pieces seems too risky for me.

1966 Omega. Bought it not working for $100. $300 to service. Too small for my wrist, will be going to go to my daughter one Christmas. Also have several Seikos from 1966. Fun. Cheap.

I tried but it got frustrating to say the least…1980 falls under the vintage area now and I was priced out of a 1016 Explorer at that point. Secondly, outside of Rolex, it’s hard to narrow down a production date on most watch brands, so I pretty much gave up

Hell yeah, same birth year as mine! 💪

What did you pay for that one? I noticed it's a bit of a rare model, the ones that are available are well beyond what I would pay for one...

Yeah, this reference is one of the more rare varieties. As a matter of fact, I couldn't find any others available at all on eBay or anywhere else online back when I was hunting for one of them. It seems like those who have one tend to hang onto them and I can see why.

I bought it on eBay earlier this year from a Spanish seller for 250 USD. A pretty reasonable price for any 7A38 in good working order.
