Have you ever bought a watch and thought, well, that's ruined my collection?

I've recently taken the plunge and bought a CWC Royal Navy Diver Quartz. It's a watch that's been on my radar and on my shortlist for a couple of years now, however I always put it off and I filled the gap with other things, thinking, maybe one day I'll get around to it.

Anyway, I've got it and now I don't really want to wear anything else from my collection.

Not in a 'that's it! sell the collection! I'm a one watch guy now!' way, not at all, it's just that it's so comfortable, very versatile and perfectly weighted it's hard to not make comparisons when wearing other watches.

I find myself wearing other things and enjoying them in their own right, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking, 'Once I'm home I'll put the CWC back on'

Maybe it's just a honeymoon period, maybe it'll fade and become just another watch, or maybe it will push others out, only time will tell.

Has anyone else bought a watch and it's so good it's brought others in your collection into question?

No, they're all special in my eyes

Lol - at first I thought you meant it the other way around; that a quartz watch somehow devalued the entire collection :-) But I see now what you mean! But no, have not had that experience. Maybe two days in a row for a new watch, but then back to the others.

I am interested in two versions of the watch. The all polished Quartz no date variant. And the SBS model with the pvd black case with Day-date configuration.

Yeah, I have a cwc g10, and I can vouch for the CWC case configuration and confort.

I was in that exact dilemma a few weeks ago, I did a poll here to help me choose and it was overwhelmingly in favour of the RN over the SBS, but both are super cool watches, just depends whether you like PVD

I feel like that about several of my watches. It makes it hard sometimes to pick one, so I force myself to keep a rotation. 😆

·

That’s a really great looking watch!🔥

·

Yes, my Seamaster . Loved it from the start, but that just grew with time. I've had it 3 years & I've bought other stuff in the meantime, but it's not come close (tho I do have a bit of a thing for Willard's).

Thanks! They're quite expensive for what they are but handling them in the flesh they're definitely worth it

You are correct in your analysis of "honeymoon period". I have that feeling with every watch I have bought.. after few weeks i start going back to my other watches in my collection and then after few months, I start looking for a new watch to be added to my collection. I am surprised I am still hanging to my wife 😉

I’m more curious about what you are driving in that photo. A vintage tractor of some kind?

·

Congrats - That's the sign of a great watch! It also sets the bar high for future potential watches vying to enter the collection..

Yes! It's my 1960 Massey Ferguson that I restored last year from a bit of a rusty heap, affectionately known as 'Shirley Massey'

Its a sweetheart..... until the next pretty watch turns your head...

·

My taste in watches is way too good to ever choose a watch that blows the others away.😎😉

·

Kinda. But only temporarily. I've mainly worn my Zelos since I bought it. Once the honeymoon is over, I'm sure I'll take it off and ignore it. Just like my wife. Sorry, honey.

·

Nope, it's only one watch at the end of the day. A collection contains many watches. No way would it sway me towards how I would view the rest of my collection. I don't think I will ever buy only one watch that will write off the rest of my collection. It's all part of the fun. I go through phases of wearing mine, certain watches become flavours of a particular month or week. It would be boring otherwise.

My 72 Timex model 62 has been like that. But only time will tell.

·

Its like me and this stupid Timex. I just keep going back to it.
