Rolex makes a bold move to capture the "left-handed Irishmen who travel a lot" market. I didn't see that coming.

I thought April Fool's Day was Thursday???

Aliexpress homage brands have been doing green bezel GMTs for years. The left handed crown was pretty unexpected, no idea why they've done it

·

I may Be the outlier, but as a lefty, love it.  No hype? Love it more… 🤣

·

Feels a bit weird. Not only the crown but also the datewheel. Like the initiative and effort though. If it’s equal production between the GMTs and only 10% left handed maybe this will actually be obtainable😎

·

This is Rolex being daring and adventurous.

Probably at Rolex HQs someone said:
- Come on guys! This year we have to surprise our customers! We can't keep launching new models where only the colour of the bezel changes!

And an executive replied:
- Ok, so what if we change the colour of the bezel, and the crown and date to the left?

Rest of the employees at the meeting:👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥳🥳🥳🥳

And that is how ugly Rolexes are conceived, my child.

·

This has to be the uninspired release yet - its like they forgot to do their homework and through it together in homeroom - same for the blue 40mm Day-Date in platinum - 'just make it bigger and heavier and more unattainable'

·

For the left-handed or ambidextrous population or those who want want to double-wrist it. It's an odd choice but as with most things Rolex does, it'll probably work.

·

Exactly what effort was made here besides printing a different date wheel and mirroring the location of the window on the dial? Possibly the little locating doodads on the back of the dial too? Attaching the bracelet the other way?

Honestly, it's a brilliant way to create something "new" with very minimal effort or expense.

I mean, it has to be this right? @Max maybe a YouTube video to spread the word? 👌🏻👌🏻

When I saw the first photo of this on the Rolex site, my immediate reaction was that the watch had been photographed upside down - it just looked "wrong".  I've never been a fan of the date at 3, but having it at 9 instead isn't exactly what I consider an improvement. On the plus side, I really do like the green and black bezel.

·

From an engineering standpoint, this isn't a new watch, beyond flipping the dial 180 and switching the bracelet around 😂

Also flipping the printing on the date wheel, haha.

I haven't handled one obviously but I am betting that's all they did.

I'm sure it is. It's a mass produced watch and they only have a small handful of case designs.

April Fools Day falls on a Friday this year.

·

If I use my mouse to cover the date, I'm kind of into it.

I find it amusing that we lefties wear just about every watch on the “wrong” hand every day, and Rolex comes out with this and righties lose their mind.

Which do you think is more controversial, this or the MoonSwatch(es)?
