Finally Got a Moonswatch (x4)

Saturday morning I decided to make a final attempt to get a Moonswatch before Xmas. Actually, I was hoping to get 2–one for me and one for my teenage daughter (who is a brilliant young lady with a serious interest in the space program, STEM generally, and physics specifically). So my wife and I drove to the King of Prussia Mall in PA and got there at opening.

There was one person in line in front of us when the store opened at 9 am, and 2 more people behind us by the time the store opened.

The good news is that they had some, but not all, models in stock. Luckily they had Earth (my daughter’s choice) and Pluto (my choice). They also volunteered that they had “a lot” of Mars and the Sun in stock, so we could get them too, if we were interested.

So we did. The two of us walked out with 4 Moonswatches total. I’ve never heard of this happening before. I was under the impression that if you got lucky enough to find a store with stock, you were limited to 1 per person. Not sure if things are changing as supply catches up with demand, or we just got really, really lucky.

As for the watch, I love it. I’m a big Speedmaster fan. This isn’t going to replace my 3861, but it’s a fun tribute. And it’s perfect for my teenager who thinks she wants a really Speedy for graduation someday. I’d like to see if she’ll really wear a 42mm watch everyday before I pony up for the real thing next year.

I have acquired a Sun, Mars, Venus and Pluto thanks to my sister spending the last three months in Europe.
Paris and Vienna were the locations she had success at. Selection was still limited and she kept looking for me and often there were none.
I would say you did well. Earth is not easy to come by and I do want one.
I am in Nashville so no store nearby.
I will be in Miami next month so I might try to make a visit to the store there.
They are fun watches and I think enthusiasts should enjoy them and that’s all I care about.
If it’s a $30 Timex or a $30,000 Rolex that makes you happy that’s your business and at the end of the day they both say midnight and do the same job.
