GMT Colorways: Need your input Crunchers!

It's a beautiful day here in Dallas, TX. We are finally over the heat and waking up to cooler temps. That's great and all but there is a storm in the JM studio as we are trying to decide on which GMT colorways to launch with. This part of the design process is the most fun, but also the most difficult! So we thought, what better way to narrow down the colors than to reach out to the community.

*Disclaimer: I realize that a lot of these colors have been seen and very familiar in the GMT space, but part of this is intentional (from a business sense) to establish a classic core of GMTs, then layer on the unique variants. I just want to say that I realize these colors are not "original". However, I'm leaving it in your hands to help us decide which direction to go with! Trying to get to 3.

Feel free to suggest  your own wishes as well. Feel free to be as honest as you want. That's a big part of the reason why I'm on the Crunch!

Here is the official poll that we are tracking:

Thanks for your help, y'all!

I think the black and orange is cool. Maybe even a deep purple almost black contrasted with silver would be nice.

·

Was going to pick the Batman, but the more I thought about it, the more it occurs to me that if I were to buy a micro-brand GMT, I would want it to be something a little more unique - something that every other big name watchmaker doesn't already do.  The Espresso looks fantastic and while it may call back to the Rolex Root Beer, it's not something that's done often these days!

·

I ended up with the batman, the lone star, and the espresso.

One explicitly classic combination in the batman and two more offbeat ones (rootbeer and crystal pepsi).

·

Well since you're asking... haha

I am a fan of the Espresso color combination personally because I tend to like darker dials and my closet leans neutral in color palette. Along the same idea, I like the Americana because I enjoy that the visual impact is more muted than a classic pepsi.

Purple! I've been hearing more about this color. We do have a purple dial solar powered watch that's a best seller, so you may be onto something here.

This is the kind of feedback I like! To be honest I thought that maybe offering a Pepsi or Batman would be a popular choice for the majority of folks who can't attain a Rolex. It's great to hear that you'd like to see a different unique color altogether. Espresso would definitely be my night out colorway. 😍

Take my money!

My top 3 are the Americana, Espresso, and Candy Corn. (No particular order)
I absolutely love these designs as I've been tuning in since the first episode came out. Well worth the wait.

Is there a release date set?

Thanks for your participation! Glad that espresso got a vote there.

My girlfriend is all about neutrals and blacks only, so that would be her first choice. Side note: I've had to tone down the color in my house when she moved in 😂

I really think that going for the classic route is the wrong way to go, and you don't stand out.

If your going into the GMT space, I would change the dials as well as the bezel and go for something out thier and different. It would also be nice to have a level of texture and the arrow, should be complimentary to the colour scheme as the red clashes woth a lot of those colours.

Hope this helps

This. I’m less inclined to buy something that already exists on a bunch of other watches, but if the ones you posted, the steel dial looks great as do the Halloween themed colors. Very well done.

The blue and purple of the old GMT are great, and maybe I’m not looking,  it I don’t see a lot of those. As for original, Id love a dark red and dark mustard colored combo bezel, aka the original Daredevil costume, but that’s the nerd in me. I say the more original color ways the better.

·

Just voted, kudos on the oak color way.

·

I'll take the more traditional route and go with Batman, Lone star and Americana

·

Personally, I'd mix in a couple of single-color bezels. Black dial with red bezel, white dial with black bezel, and white dial with blue bezel are some of my personal favorite combos!

·

My favorite are the espresso and the green lantern. Just submitted my poll. They all look great though!

Do you have a price point yet?

I voted for Cotton Candy, Expresso and Oak. I suggested Lemon Lime: bright yellow and bright green. It would be for the discerning palate. I find brightly colored watches attract attention.

·

Of these choices, the Espresso and Candy Corn!

Do you have a price point yet?

@BtownB9 Not yet! We are still in the phase of sampling and working through costs. With all the custom moulds and having assembly and movement regulation done in the US, we still have some numbers to work out! Our top priority, however, is to provide a product and brand experience of high value to our customers. Stay tuned!

·

I agree with you here and I think that would be a definite update! Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you for your participation. That would be an attention grabber!! I would like to get into seasonal brights for sure. What are your thoughts on Limited Editions? yay or nay?

I am loving that the Espresso is getting a good amount of attention. I selfishly hope this floats to the top! Haha

Monochrome. Can't go wrong and goes with any outfit or occasion. Consider yourself considered. 😎

Senpai noticed me 🤩 Do note the dual finish on the bezel though, that's what I was really referring to. Pepsi and Batman are old hat, but this thing Seiko did with one side dark and one side shiny but both sides still black is, IMO, pretty freaking nifty

Been on a green kick lately so the Green Lantern gets my top vote (assuming hands & markers are black instead of silver for better legibility). I also saw that someone recommended Lemon Lime which would be awesome with a white dial & green GMT hand.

How about leaning hard into the vintage PanAm vibe with a turquoise & fuschia bezel? 😍

I am all for limited editions.  I don't own any myself, but I don't mind them like some do. There are some designs that will only work for a small number of people. No need to overproduce and have watches sitting in rented space unsold.

I went for Americana, Lone Star and Candy Corn (but I'd prefer an Orange GMT hand for the Candy Corn if possible).

Yes, the Green Lantern has contrasting black markers and hands. This will certainly help the legibility of the dial.

Yea the turq and fuschia is certainly something I'd love to consider. Part of the beauty of that is the faded look of the anodized aluminum. I'm not quite sure how great it would look as a solid saturated bright. Worth a look though. Thanks for the input!

Well, we already have an LE concept for next year....Should be a good one

I agree with this 100%. Hot pink and white numbers / black with cyan numbers, CGA-style.

As an aside. There are other “root beer” versions that have the brown on the upper hemisphere, and a more yellow-brown/gold at the bottom, and that is a really lovely combination with a two-tone case.
