Ayutthya is a super cool place. My wife took me their years ago and the ruins were fascinating.

·

How is the humidity ?

·

In Ayutthaya myself today 😊 small world I guess

·

AWESOME

I spent some time in Thailand a few years ago for a military exercise. Our mission commander wouldn't let us ride on elephants because he thought it was unethical. Don't tell him, but I know a lot of people went to go visit the elephants. 😂

·

Sounds like fun

·

Beautiful watch, and awesome trip! Loved Thailand the couple times I've been.❤️ A little uncomfortable about the elephant ride though. That's a well documented industry, known to be horrific and abusive when it comes to the welfare and care of the elephants in their care.

·

Fantastic! I love Thailand

Am married to a Siamese darling. Love it 🥰

It’s a fantastic place. Don’t ride the elephants, though.

·

Been in Ayuttaya, sure very worth of a day trip from Bangkok! Unfortunately I wasn’t wearing a Rolex that day!

Personally, I always try not to engage in any activities that require of the use of an animal for my enjoyment (think camel rides in Egypt, elephant rides in Thailand, horse wagon rides in many European city centers…) I have nothing to say to anybody who engages on them, but it is a sort of activity I prefer not to partake in.

·

Please, enjoy the ride. Yet my personal opinion is that these majestic animals should not be trained as carrying animals. The living conditions of these elephants are most likely not up to your standards and they get exploited in order to generate profit. Quite often the human workers get exploited as well.

Thank you for sharing!! Great to see Thailand brought you happiness☺️

Nice watch! And trip! Would never though support those things like using animals for profit. Something like this will just perpetuate. But just my pref. Enjoy!

The fact that you’re Wearing a Rolex Explorer while really exploring is making me so happy to be part of this community on here 🥹

I am afraid those elephants, donkeys and horses have only two options:

-they do the job and feed their human parteners and theirself

Or:

-they don't do the job and disappear

If you can see a better third option, please , put your money on it

·

You can ride a bike or a motorcycle, not an elephant. That’s one thing.

The other: nice watch

Ridind an elephant is a way of feeding an elephant. If those elephants have no money from tourists they will be dead. Unlessyou put your money to feed them...

They actually are loving creatures and some are sad but many are happy sentient creatures that really are affectionate with their elephants and visa versa . I agree with your sentiments though but it’s more complex than you know . I hate the drugged small monkeys and lizard handlers in Pattaya and refuse to give those parasites money , so yes your heart is in the right place . Some elephant, human relationships are beautiful.

Sure, that‘s why all the free living elephants have riders on them. To keep them fed. All the pictures without riders are actually from the riders themselves, photographing these poor, malnourished animals that survived millenia without people exploiting them for tourist money ;)

Enjoy your holiday. Just know that the animals that would only „survive“ with you riding them were only bred or caught to be „used“ for exactly that sole reason.

If you can live whithout Tesla, Iphone, GrandSeiko... you have a point.

But lithium from your eco Tesla, and phone, Nickel from your GrandSeiko... all materials objects souronding you in your house are extracted somewhere in Africa, Asia and SouthAmerica. And guess what? The mines kill the habitat for elephants, penguins, dolphins, bugs and people.

Oh my Goodness!!!! I didn't know that.

There is no perfect fairytale choise for those elephants.

There just real, material choices. Those elephants are dead whithout tourist money.

·

I would do it

They wouldn’t exist nor be there (the „Sanctuary“) if it wouldn’t be for the tourist money.

No tourists = no money = no elephants needed for riding (and they would thrive as they did for centuries)

You’ve got it the wrong way round…

Be that as it may. You will find a way to justify it. Cool. You still wouldn’t hop on a free-roaming (meaning: non-„domesticated“) elephants back to ride it. THAT tells the story that’s appropriate here. HOW these elephants are „made to be at ease“ with a human in their back, you might ask? Check out some cool videos on YT. Spoiler: Hooks are involved.

Enjoy your Explorer in charted territoty, though. It’s a watch forum, nonetheless.

Edit: I’m responding to the guy who isn’t even enjoying his Explorer. Too bad. All other points are still valid.

Welcome to my beautiful country :)

Enjoy!

Awesome watch and pic! Safe and fun Exploring!

Can definetely agree to you. That is why I am not an activist or something for this. It's just, let's say, my personal preference. Should definitely be an experience

Ive seen as many acts of kindness to save them just becoming very dangerous road kill and trampling o farms , complex problem though I agree there is no need to be impatient training an elephant, some people shouldn’t be near such a fine sentient beautiful creature, my wife’s grandfather had elephants for the farm and they according to my wife’s mother they loved their companions in life not pets but loved and cared for. My Mother in law remembers being at ease and safe around the females , males are another matter, take care and agree with you , just supplying a perspective lived by wife’s fam .
