i got the idea to buy one when i was browsing W.O.E and i bought a cheap one and put it on my bond nato. i know it looks goofy especially with a bond style but idk i kinda like it ๐ eh ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ i kinda like weird things anyways.
As a suburbanite, it's too bulky for me as an EDC, but I can see where it would be useful in a rural/adventure setting as long as the case material didn't interfere with compass readings.
I would have to get the thermometer one too, and maybe the clock. I couldn't do it on a NATO though. They already have enough bric-a-brac hardware on them.

I'll use one from time to time, depends on what I'm feeling that day, or intended use.
Have used it before, more of a guideline for cardinal points on a UXO response. Even with modern tech and extra batteries, sometimes it's just faster, and way less bulky than going Schwarzkopf style with a GPS and watch.
Or as a backup while running a land nav excercise/problem.
If you are out on a ridgeline in the mountains or alone in a national park I can see the need. If youโre going to American Eagle at the mall to get some last minute Christmas gifts? Not so much. ๐ THAT BEING SAIDโฆ.if you like it? Rock it, my man. Do you. ๐๐ป๐ฏ
If you are headed to the hills then yes, however in town or at the house ....not so much lol. Just saying if you don't know which way is North, South, East, West you shouldn't be there. Lol ๐๐ฝ
I like it. I've been contemplating which brand to get to accompany my CWC or Marathon. Any suggestions from the crunch community would be greatly appreciated. ๐งญ
This is a good thought but I think in this case the really small magnet in the compass and the relatively large space between movement and compass keeps things safe.
Even if the case is steel it prob wonโt pass a strong enough magnetic field to magnetize the movement (although Iโm not an expert on watches so maybe movements are really that sensitive but again the magnet in compasses are just so small and weak I would be so shocked if it makes a difference)
I hadnโt thought of the movement being magnetized, I was concerned about the case interfering with the compass! I am a neophyte with watches, but have used a compass for years, so I was thinking from the other direction!!! :-). I will need to learn more about movements and magnetism, especially if I plan to get a mechanical watch next year!
I've used these on my gshock for navigation in the desert back when I was in basic training. Nowadays I have no need for it, nor the other add-ons but I do like the aesthetic, even if I personal don't wear them as they feel a bit too military for me
If I ever go hiking I might slap it on tho, even just for old times sake

Sorry. Pointless ๐คฆโโ
I think they are awesome, but I was made fun of the last time or wore one on a watch.

A clock huh? How about a waterproof matchbox?
Love it!

As with any tool it has its uses.
My Deep Blue came with one. Looks like something I would break in about five minutes. I am a bull in a china shop.

Not my jam (too โfanny packโ looking imo) but by all means, you do you ๐ค
May be useful off-roading/ hiking, but I probably wouldnโt honestly have need for something like this.
No

Ahh gotcha- didnโt even occur to me what you meant :-) thanks for broadening my perspective and happy Friday ๐ค
I Like it, I've always liked them but never had cahonoes to wear one
I love it

No point to a compass? I take it you don't venture into uncharted territory much mate.
Yes. But with a silva, not a button compass. Unless youโre hiding it up your ass for escape and evasion purposes. For me pointless ๐

So size and brand maketh the compass?
Sounds like you're saying you prefer a pocket watch over a wristwatch.
