The everlasting debate, one or another?

Hello again chrunchers! A few months have passed since I've first thought of a more "high end" watch for my collection. I couldn't decide between the Tag Aquaracer and the Longines Hydroconquest. One day, scroling through Chrono24 I stumbeled across this Breitling Superocean. It is by far one of the most impressive pieces I've encountered. So, I think I found my poison, and would pull the trigger on this one even thought it's more expensive. But, it's not mine yet, and I would like to get your advice. Engage with me in the comments! Ciao.

Not a fan of the Tag, the other 2 look more premium but I couldn't tell you why. I also don't like the crown guards on the old hydroconquest, so I would go for the breitling or the new style hydroconquest.

No blue limited edition Anniversary Omega Seamasters?? 😱🤯

The usual rules apply.

Get these watches on your wrist (if you can) before deciding. Two watches can look and wear completely different on your particular wrist, even with ostensibly identical measurements.

There a plenty of watches I’ve loved in pictures but look terrible on-wrist; and vice versa.

As an example, I love the look of the Tudor Black Bay GMT (Pepsi) in pictures, but on my wrist, it looks stark and garish. The Black Bay GMT S&G (Rootbeer), with its warmer tones, actually suits me much better (only on the leather strap, mind you - that bracelet is just a bit too much S&G 😁). I swore I’d never own a two-tone watch, but it just looks so good!

Just for info, there is an updated version on the #longines Hydroconquest from what you've posted, and for what it is worth, I much prefer the slightly more subtle look. I have it in black and absolutely love it.

Longines, all day, every day.

·

I would have them all on wrist and then go with what feels better. Honestly all look good, for me longines looks better, but then again breitling...

·

I like the brietling design more. I’d get it if I could pull it off.

·

I’m a huge fan of Longines and I prefer the Breitling in this case.

·

In my opinion, if I'm going to get a Breitling, it's gonna be an aviation watch. For a diver, I'll take the Longines.

·

I personally like the Longines most, then the Breitling. The Aquaracer has never been my thing, I think it looks a little plain.

·

SuperOcean is a terrific watch, too many persons underestimate the quality of Breitling without ever owning a single one. I have been a supporter of the brand since my first Chronomat in 1989, was shopping for a possible addition on Saturday. The store director was wearing a Rolex Batman admitted that he never owned a Breitling but that was more a circumstance due to his work at shops that did not retail the brand. He could finally appreciate the quality of the watches that I continue to support with my dollars.

·

It seems you've answered your own question when you said "it's the most impressive watch you've encountered." The Breitling is beautiful for sure 👍

·

For a diver, I think the HydroConquest looks way better. It has the Submariner vibes in it. As for Breitling, I’m so into the Navitimer B01. Think I’ll pull the trigger pretty soon!

·

I have tried on all three. All three brands are awesome. The Breitling is my personal favorite for look and feel on wrist. There are other Longines models I covet. Tag Heuer makes a Titanium model that's awesome (green dial only) IMO go Breitling!

·

For me it is Longines, I own the previous version of Hydroconquest ( the one on your photo ). Breitling is simmilar in design so understand the dilema, this Tag is not my style and always considered as ugly duck in their collection ( together with Link ). Breitling is a bit more known brand but Longines is way better value IMO. Breitling has slightly better finishing and they both base on same movement ( my L888 is running well within COSC despite not declared so ), hence don't see the extra bump in price justified

·

Gosh, I think the last gen SuperOcean is probably the most attractive of the bunch (and frankly all the non vintage inspired SuperOceans).

If you hold a Hydroconquest and a Last Gen SuperOcean next to each other, you do feel the difference in quality in finishing and feel. I think there's a real question as to whether that's worth the extra $1k for you.

·

I’m probably not going to help by saying get both the Breitling and Longines. I tried on a 41mm Hydroconquest yesterday and really loved it. Gonna pick one up soon.

·

Breitling vote

What about Omega oris sinn...

Lots of options still out there

·

If you don't get the Breitling you will regret it.

·

Careful about about second hand Superoceans. I have a blue 44 and didn't know the bezels were supposed to be rubberized. Mine had the rubber "polished off", likely due to the bezel getting damaged or chipped.

·

Breitling... 😑

·

I'm considering the same Brietling! I love that dial, just not sure if the fit will be right on my 7inch wrist

·

Personally im a huge aquaracer fan. More so on rubber straps tho

·

I like the Tag, the numerals are too big and bold for me on the others.
