First go at vintage.

Thank you to @GasWorks for saving this little donkey from the glue factory. You do great work, good sir.

It’s a November 1971 Seiko 6119 case and movement, and an April 1972 dial. One hundred percent Seiko, but one-of-a-kind custom.

It absolutely does not need one, but I’m so in love with this thing it might deserve an unnecessary review.

Thank you. I'm thrilled that it's found a good home across the other side of the pond.

Good to see it's getting acquainted with the local wildlife.

Wow looks very nice. I bought a vintage Seiko once, now I have 16 of them!

I don’t foresee myself going down that particular road anytime soon, but browsing is fun.

I have one of my grandads, a Seiko quartz from either the early '80s or '90s. Not exactly sure because the serial number doesn't distinguish decades and the year number says just "2," so it's probably '82 or 92'.

If it has the Sq logo on the dial it's almost definitely 82.

Nice, I always thought it was in too good of condition to be that old. It has its share of scratches and wear, but it's definitely capable of being worn even today. I had links removed to fit my wrist when I was in much better shape, but I have no idea how they work. They are pin and collar, I think. I still have all the extras so I could always get it resized to fit my wrist now. Funny thing is, I don't recall it having very good battery life. I had it changed in 2014 and by 2016 I don't think it was ticking any longer.

I have searched high and low for a website to decipher the serial number. I have image searched in Google the fine print at the bottom of the dial under the 6 'o' clock and found a bunch of similar watches but not the same model.

2 years battery life is probably about right to be honest.

Nice to see a British microbrand producing nice stuff.

I suppose with having to use a stepper motor, or whatever it is called, to rotate the hands is more energy intensive than a simple LCD display.

Not going to be one of a couple of weeks now, as I'm off on holiday, but I will add it to my note book!

Maybe need to do one on microbrands once we have completed the tournament 👍

Yes I can corroborate that statement. I have a few tidy examples and one more on the way!

Cool, Seiko produced some great high quality Quartz watches in the 70s & 80s. The SQ (Seiko Quartz) was first used in the late 70s I believe so your watch probably dates to 1982. The other way to tell is to find out when the movement was made from & to, this can narrow it down to a specific decade. Here's my Grand Quartz from 1977, these Grand & King quartz watches are still pretty cheap & very underrated!
