Studio Underdog

Hi all, I'm a big fan of individuality and personality when it comes to watch collecting. Being yourself and buying what you like rather than what others THINK you should like.

There's a superb microbrand called 'Studio Underdog' which make truly stunning pieces with an design edge.

Keen to know my fellow Watch Enthusiast's views

They are incredible but I believe that the new batch was sold out already (in less than 30 min)

I managed to login and pickup a Watermelon. All 3 colourways sold out in 5mins

its a beautiful piece, the watermelon colour seems fun but its not my cup of tea. but other colour combo might works for me. is that a seagull movement?

Good for you! Please post a few photos when it arrives!

·

I go for pretty and dependable. That worked 34 years ago and still works today.

·

Missed the (very small) time window on this release, I can't help thinking it may have been better to have released each colour on a different day to give more opportunities, but good for them that they sold out and chose to keep pricing reasonable rather than being more opportunist given the anticipated demand.

Nice watches, a very nice owner/designer who made a big splash in an incredibly short period of time. Have to appreciate his drive and determination

·

Hear, hear. I'm with you reference the thrust of your post. What goes on my wrist is put there because that's what I want on my wrist. As for the watch, interesting piece.

·

Saw these and thought they were very cool. I’d have gone for the mint choc chip.

For the record, I tend to like things that are unique and not everyone is wearing. Guess I’ve missed out on this one, based on the above comments, but pleased to hear the brand has done well!

(first post!)

Snagged a Mint Choc Chip. Roll on July.

·

The watches are joyful, attractive, and colorful, but I believe that 500 GBP for a watch with a SeaGull movement is way too high.

·

@MelvinHollenberg

My head: "Of course, you're right. You can pick up an awesome SeaGull Watch on AliExpress for a 1/4 of the price (I have done, with no regrets), and the original Studio Underd0g Kickstarter offerings were half the price."

My heart: "Yeah, but look at it! I want it!"

Heart won. No regrets.

·

The watermelon is definitely a cool colorway.

·

No way I would wear that.

·

I love their designs. Have been following them for some time now but they are not available for purchase unfortunately.

·

I really like the design, but kickstarters/preorders are a no for me, even before you factor in the "pay attention because they'll sell out in a few minutes" bs.

·

Man, I'm eyeing on their Go0fy Panda (Gen2) but I'm wondering if it will still fits my 5.5inch wrist. Hope to get one next time when it's available 🙏

I am in a quandry with this watch (and a few others). Right now I'm saving for my Grail watch Seiko SLA043 however, it's watches like these, and in particular the Desert Sky version of the Studio Underdog range, makes me think my closely guarded pile could be in serious jeapordy!

@Deeperblue This is one of those things that makes me cringe and writhe my hands like I'm a pearl clutcher! What are the watches that made you take a swipe from your grail fund!?

Pretty much every watch I've bought in the past year has stolen from my grail fund! (not so much a grail fund, but more me trying to save for something more expensive)

I am not ashamed to say I have zero self control, but I am lucky in that I do love all my watches and don't regret buying them. I tend to go with random vintage buys, so I have to snatch them when I can. 😏

Last year when I was on holiday there was a sale of all the main Studio Underd0g models. I had desperately wanted to get the Desert Sky & was sat at my iPad awaiting the countdown clock to hit zero.

I missed out on one due to my bank repeatedly refusing to authorise the payment due to me being in the Caribbean. I was gutted.

Today I received an email from a Glasgow jeweller saying they had a small number of pieces available for sale. 10 mins later I had a Desert Sky bought & paid for. I’m absolutely delighted to get this watch. The joy to money spent ratio is off the charts.
