B&R?

Worth the price tag? Like / Dislike the design? Wearing experiences? Any and all thoughts welcome!

Don't have one yet, but could care less about value....

Wanted a Type Demineur for awhile, in fact just biding my time and waiting for the right option to show up on Chrono24.

Sinn cased quartz I believe.

MSRP price tag? No. Props for their design language, nor for me because…wears large.

B&R have some very cool watches. They do wear large because of the shape. Would gladly owned one if the fit, but I would buy used because they get clobbered on the grey and then preowned market.

Hour and minutes marked H and M?

Is this a watch for wealthy 6 year olds?

Why no S for the seconds hand?

·

I’d have to see this in the metal, cuz I’m not feeling it in photographs.

Entire brand is filed under "Stuff I don't understand at all" for me. I guess it is supposed to appeal to military aviation machismo enthusuasts or something. I just see big ugly one-trick clunkers that look much cheaper than they are. The crossed 7 index is cool though. Do they all have that?

·

The hands are kind of confusing me but i'm sure there's an explanation for them? If it's just for design purpose then i'm not a fan 😄

I'd agree with their newer stuff. Some of their older back catalog is pretty legit, IMO.

Case in point the Type Demineur I referenced earlier. Sinn case and a shielded quartz movement for French EOD/Bomb Squad use.

I own a vintage B&R full lume and it’s probably one of my most comfortable watches that I wear. From everything I’ve read they are a great watch company.

Don’t pay anything close to MSRP

·

They are decent, but buy better buy pre-own

·

i hate to admit it, but they wear way better than you'd imagine... I just can't pull the trigger though...

·

I used to really like them, then discovered they basically copied their whole instrument design from Trintec when their patent ran out… still like the BR-03, but the copying thing still gets me

I think it's because the hands are the same size....

·

My first real watch was a B&R, purchased maybe 13-14 years ago. It’s still a very nice piece and the bumps and dings obtained along the way makes it look more toolsy.

Unfortunately it’s a bit big for my current tastes so I don’t wear it as much. Over the years I’ve found that 36-38mm 3 handers wear a lot more comfortably. I’d probably sell it if I had a local buyer.

It mimics the look of a VOR radio navigation aid on an aircraft panel. When flying the proper heading the narrow hand will nestle between the lines of the double hand. No value to time keeping. But as a pilot, it totally appeals to me, if it weren’t also the size of a cockpit instrument. Way too large for me.

·

This is designed after an Automatic Direction Finder (ADF), a type of aircraft instrument you'd commonly find on barely maintained light aircraft while trying to simultaneously earn your instrument rating and avoid killing yourself and your flight instructor.

Thanks for the explanation. That's pretty cool for pilots then.

If you want bigger wrists (and body🤪) do what i do: eat more carbohydrates.🤣

I believe you’re right, ADF vs VOR. I’m getting old and mixing up my TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms) 😉

·

The designs don't speak to me but I'm glad they exist and offer something different.

·

Looks nice, but I have a headache trying to figure which end of the hands do I read for the time.

Agreed. The hands on this model felt very experimental.

Oh wow... I didn't dig into the inspiration but I appreciate B&R sticking to a goal of offering their iconic shape to the mix.

Brown! Pretty unique for sure.

That looks cool. I’m just not sure about eh square design. Try it on. If you like and makes your heart sing then ignore every comment here or anywhere and go for it! Otherwise if you’re not really sure then save your money for something else
