How small is too small?

Just random post about vintage watches. This female Longines is 19x19, yet it has crazy specs: hacking, hand winding, quick set date and 28.800 vph ๐Ÿ’I believe in the past, brands are more competitive of who's making better watches, nowadays it seems to be like "who charges more for their watches ๐Ÿ˜‚ ".

I think it's too small, but you can try bund leather strap to make it look bigger

ยท

You could put two on one strap for a very unique GMT!๐Ÿ˜

ยท

Both my grandmothers had watches of similar size, one was even a swiss automatic such as this one (not a Longines though and I was not knowledgeable enough to actually get all the information about it either).

Seeing Neimar pulled off with a female Rolex, I might give this a try, why not ๐Ÿคฃ

Is the magnifying glass included? ๐Ÿง

Nice ring.

I have similar struggles with smaller watches, but on the other side I also enjoy the lightness of smaller watches as well as the sad fact, that most watches aren't 42mm and bigger. Especially vintage ones.

As long as I can still read the time, I'm good with it.

Women used to wear these small watches, they used to love them. Those watches are so feminine and naturally a great match for women imo. Now they want to wear men's stuff LOL. It says a lot about how women's aspirations and ambitions have changed with time.

ยท

It's like being too thin or too rich. A watch is too small if it cannot be easily read or is rendered excessively delicate. A man is too small if he thinks a watch is too small for other reasons.

Large watches are like large motors. They indicate poor technology that can't do more with less. Except in the hilarious case of giant empty cases with little quartz movements, at which point the technology is superior beyond the capacities of the wearer.

I need to get a photo of my late great aunt's watch, which is about the size of my pinky nail.

ยท

I know a guy who'll wear that as a ring!

ยท

Maybe build your own larger case, and insert this into it. 3D printer, anyone?

ยท

Yes, ever since AP and Mr G started a trend, most "high end" brands have only been competing with respect to price. But not who can provide more for less but who can sell less for more.

A watch sits on the wrist like my butt sits on a chair. I can't be too skinny for that chair but I sure can be too fat. As long as you can tell the time it isn't too small.

ยท

You can order one from Ali in quite a few styles. Just cheap chinese quartz but they work.

ยท

Uh... that's too small.... I wear vintage watches, but I have my limits...

ยท

Crazy specs, yes, I want one of those invisible straps please, or is it a bracelet, hard to tell from here. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜

ยท

If you vibe with it... Why not?

I won't be going under 30 for round watches and under 20 for a rectangular watches, but its just me.

It doesn't matter if this a ladies or gents watch, as long as you feel confident wearing it, you will pull it off 100%.

ยท

way too small for my eyes!

ยท

That is a finger watch for sure ๐Ÿ˜Š

ยท

Fam! No watch is too small. I wanted a blue sunburst gilt dial srpe so I had to do what I had to do! Check it! ๐Ÿ˜

You could use a couple of those in your fingers ๐Ÿ˜‚

I like with a favorite YouTuber of mine recently said on a video; that putting on a new watch or one that he hasnโ€™t worn in a long time thatโ€™s 36 mm, is like going on a holiday. Probably like many of you that own field watches like me have the majority of your collection in or around 38 to 40 mm. I own a lot of 38-40 mm watches. In fact, I think the majority of my collection is comprised of that size. It just works for me. But I also, like many of us more than likely, take a look at ourselves in the mirror, when putting on a watch thatโ€™s new to us, or one we have not worn in a while. And I think when we see ourselves we know whether it makes sense, either with what weโ€™re wearing, or if it would be too small in proportion. When you look at it, you just know. Wear what makes you feel good.

I don't recall saying that ๐Ÿค”

It's all relative to what you like.

Enjoy that watch!

Cheers!

Iโ€™m all for smaller watches, but I think itโ€™s all about what you are comfortable with.

What is very interesting, at least to me, is what is available at reasonable prices because of size. If you can stomach 28-30mm, 1930s and 1940s gentlemanโ€™s watches are an untapped goldmine of class.

ยท

I can't see myself ever wearing a watch that small, but I find it very intriguing. I've always been really impressed with the ability to stuff fully functional movements into those small cases.

ยท

I usually wear 39-41mm watches and a friend offered me to try out for a week a 37mm watch. At first it seemed too small (even though it isn't objectively that small) and I've gotten somewhat used to it. It's all relative to what you're used to and now I'm quite open to smaller watches.

Anyway, I think the trend of big watches is going to turn!

A perfect toddler watch ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'll do you one better - get a whole load of these and chain them together into a watch bracelet! Truly a waste of time. If I had one, I think it'd be too big for a ring, but it would make a funny tie or lapel pin...
