Birthday Watch Alert!!
First NWA post on WC.
Today is my brithday and this morning while having breakfast my girlfriend surprised me with a Baltic Bicompax 002. And when I say surprised, I mean totally stunned, we had discussed my fondness for the brand and me liking the MR01 and Aquascaphe GMT models but never the Bicompax. We also had a talk where I told her to no get me any watches or anything fancy for my birthday so we could save some money. So I really wasn't expecting this.
I always thought the Bicompax looked really good but didn't like that they had a closed caseback; silly me, I didn't notice the open caseback option on their website. So when I got it and saw the ST1901 on full display I was in awe.
I gotta say, I haven't been able to do much work today, because I'm constantly looking at the dial and movement. It's my first mechanical chronograph and first manual wind watch, and I love everything about it. I thought it was really cool in pictures, but that dial man, it's perfectly proportioned and has some very cool textures, and the movement is by far the best looking I have in my collection.
I obviously used it right away timing my coffee pouring on my v60 and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I'll probably be making more pasta as well, just so I can time it.
I had been browsing for a vintage inspired racing chronograph but I was totally off.
This suits me perfectly and it dresses up or down very easily, so I don't see it leaving my wirst in a long time.
Anyways I wanted to share my gorgeus new watch.

The watch itself is gorgeus, the pictures in the Baltic website don't really show the sunburst of the subdials or the texture that the center and outer dial have (I'm not a very good photographer either, so I hope this shows what I'm talking about)
It wears very comfortable and the bracelet, while a little light, has managed my wrist changing sizes (due to the heat we have currently in my city) flawlessly, I think it's the most comfortable bracelet I have.
I've actually went and searched for a youtube reviews of the Baltic watches and you are 100% on point, there's another dimension to this dial. I love the font of the numbers as well, it's a great watch, not gonna lie) The fact that i wanted to explore more about the brand without any particular intention to do so before your post, it's something) I love all the old or rather "old fashioned" things - analogue music instruments, beaten trucker jackets, vinyls and faux (or real) patinas. There's something about the thing that was used, or could be used years before, and Baltic 100% delivers that feeling) And their color schemas are spot on. I should really take a look on those watches. It might be something for me there.
Anyways, great watch mate, wear with pride and with joy, damn watches are exceptional presents arent they.

I agree, Baltic has definetly a vintage vibe, with it’s proportions, dial style and dimensions. I have nothing but good things to say about the brand.
