F**k You watches

Do you own a f**k you watch? These are the watches that go against the narrative. They prick the bubble of delusion and poke a finger in the eye of elitism. There are quite a few that I can mention:

Invicta

Image

Yeah, the watch that so many people love to hate. Yes they're big. Yes, they're gaudy. Their best selling watches are often homages. Yes they are heavily "discounted" against MSRP, and yes, the build quality can be sketchy. But you know what? I think they've had more impact on the watch world than everyone thinks. They have a never-ending well of imaginative designs. They are the ones who led the way on larger watches. So many people don't get the fun aspect of their ethos. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nothing says "f**k you" like an Invicta.

Moonswatch

Image

Oh the fanboys were up in arms about this one... "How dare they cheapen the hallowed watch that went to the moon?"... "Swatch group has destroyed Omega!!!".... "I bet it's knocked hundreds of pounds off the resale value of my Ed White" It didn't cheapen the brand, it elevated it, and its clear that this was a way of elevating the real Speedmaster Professional ahead of them going up to the next level when it comes to accuracy and finishing. F**k you, elitists snobs!

Hublot

Image

So what if they lose a ton of money once they go out of the door? If you like it, buy it. Resale value is for breadheads. The only people who really hate these watches are gobshite grey market dealers who can't make money out of them. F**k you Nico.

So, do you own a f**k you watch? What have I missed? Let's see what you've got. Only for fun.

The only thing I have against Breitling is the size. But that's me, not them. They're making money, so they must be doing something right.

Not bad - A little big for me, but I like the Chinese characters on the side.

Lol I get that! The size is what draws me to the brand. I was wearing 36mm Rollies in the 1980s when I was shopping for my first perpetual (AP Royal Oak, hugely over rated in my opinion) the agent decided to wholesale Breitling which were 38-42mm at the time, I was hooked for the next 40 years. The AP was ok but I wanted fun!

I have an invicta pro driver. Not really in your face, very conservative for them. But, you do get invicta engraved in the side of the case.

Yes, I've got one, too. it's the 9094, which is the blue dial with the Seamaster style bezel. All things considered, it's a good watch for the price and got me into mechanical watches.

I’m starting to secretly suspect Pagani Design is actually the most punk rock brand going for how much it causes annoyance in some people, whilst also being liked by others. I have three now.

(This may, or may not, be serious.)

That quartz speedy homage is quite tempting.

That quartz speedy homage is quite tempting.

I saw someone else reviewing one on here (the fauxtina variant with the sandwich dial) and then the one I have came up on eBay — got it for about fifty quid, and then was really pleasantly surprised by the lume and the way the bracelet from my Pagani 1667 diver fit it.

Also, speedy alike, but no penis at twelve. There is a triangle though. There’s probably some Freud thing happening.

(Edit: Just to say I like real speedmasters, almost goes without saying. They’re just not in my range, and even if they were, there’s others above them on the list lol. I literally bought it because I wanted a functional tachy for the collection. XD)

The Slow Jo 04…

- It’s square-ish

- it’s round-ish

- it’s quartz

- it’s all PVD gold

- it’s a single hand 24-hr dial

- midnight is at the 6 o’clock position…

Hi Ryan,

Old school big watches for old guys, what is better!

Best,

J

I have quite some variation in my collection, appreciating both small and large watches. My smallest is 23mm across (granted, it is a squareish case) and largest being 42mm.

I have tried on some of Breitling's larger pieces and they fit me just fine. I'd probably be able to rock a 45mm Avenger. Hopefully...

I don't know how much this fits the bill, but 42mm across, insanely thick, and Baumgartner pin-pallet movement under the dial is probably not to everyone's taste.

Image

Image

The only shot I have showing off its thickness is one before I cleaned it. Don't mind the half-century-old gunk...

There's also this...

Ah yes, a wristclock

Who needs a stinkin watch when you can have a whole clock on your wrist?? At least for now, this is officially my favorite watch on WatchCrunch.

My ‘Rollie Revenge’ watch. My way of saying F U to Rolex.

Image

Some company that calls itself Roll X or something is making "homages" of these in Switzerland.

Glad you like them. But beware of that new brand Pagani Design Design. They make homages of Pagani watches.

·

Thanks a lot, I have heard of Sugess. And I would have thought they just made up the name "Gustav Becker".
