Can a Microbrand be any good

I didn't had the plesure to hanle yet a Microbrand watch but i have saw a lot of Reviews on YouTube from Max from Watch crunch, Bruce Williams, Adrian from Bark & Jack or Tristano from TGV.

I need to say that on the video they look incrdible and very high quality. The finish on the dials and the cases are very well made sometimes i feel they have more time spend on a watch zhen a big Brand, or is it just me hahaha.

Can you maybe show me what's your choice, which Microbrand sould i look for.

Short answer: Yes.

Longer Answer: It depends on what exactly you are looking for. Sure, some microbrands don't have the rich heritage and reputation that precedes older brands like Breguet or VC, but it doesn't mean they're not 'good.' Lorier, Farer, Brew and Baltic all have immense reputations in the watch world (and on WatchCrunch!) despite being microbrands.

The designs may be beautiful, but the movements that they use may be from more established brands, and sometimes that can be the dealbreaker for some people; "If they're using the same movements from [insert brand name], why don't I just get [insert brand name]?" And they would be correct. Why don't you get it from there?

Because you want to try something different. Because you want to see what more the horological world can offer you besides the more established brands. Maybe you're disillusioned with the mass amounts of marketing that they churn out. Maybe you had a terrible experience with an established brand, but still want to appreciate a similar, if not better levels of craftsmanship but can't find anywhere locally. Maybe you're just a hipster!

There is an element of risk, yes, but there always is, and it's not a bad thing to dare to be different. And microbrands are different - they all are! Don't be afraid to dive in and see what else is available out there.

Don't just take it from me, though. Click those hashtags that you used to share this post with people, and you will find collectors that have fallen in love with these brands just as much or harder than they did with an established one.

I‘m very happy with quality of my Baltic and Borealis. Nothing to complain about.

Zelos makes some very nice quality pieces. I’ve been featuring mine in the #1wc for the last month. I’m very happy with it so far!

·

I’m a Monta fan. They make excellent watches, with fit and finish, quality, and accuracy that rivals the Swiss big boys. Plenty of YouTube reviews on them out there, recommend you check them out as well.

I wear the Triumph (L) a fair bit and Noble (R) is my wife’s daily.

The Baltic is also my current favorite. The size just fits perfectly.

·

I would say that the brew watches are pretty unique and have their own identity which can be important if your buying a smaller name same with studio underdog and anordian

You may have missed The 2023 Micro Tournament orchestrated by @AllTheWatches Check it out here https://www.watchcrunch.com/tags/microtournament

I'm biased as the owner of three Lorier watches. I would add that the fun thing with microbrands is the "human level" of communication/business. You deal most likely with the creators, designers, owners directly, which is fun. I had both emails with Lauren (Lorier's co-owner) and Mark (Long Island Watch Co. and Islander microbrand owner) and their are very nice.

I love Lorier. The thing I value most in microbrands are the attention to detail and the absolutely high standards and quality of service you get when you support them.

Yes this is a huge positive point on microbrands that you don't have with the big Boys 👏

Thank you for your comment

Granted Steinhart is considered a legacy microbrand at this point but it still counts.
