My vintage Elgin that originally belonged to my grandfather. While it looks pretty decorative, from the wear and patina, I'm confident it was a daily use timepiece.
It still runs but I don't use it much as it's irreplaceable as a family treasure.

Great patina & I like the 3D effect of the numbers on the dial. Like the style!
Very interesting and a decagonal case! The chain suits it well. How do you use the ring hook on the end there? I believe those are meant to go around buttons, but I've found they can also work for belt loops and lapel buttonholes if using a coat chest pocket.
What a beauty! Can you rock it like this guy?
That's an absolute gem - what a lovely watch.

I think you're right about the button. The few times I've worn it, I just put it around a belt loop as I don't have a vest with a watch pocket.
& Yeah... The flat sided case is unusual - I really like the look.
Oh wow that is so nice. I've always wanted a pocket watch and have been looking for one. Maybe one day...
Fantastic! Beautiful family heirloom.
That's a really cool piece. I have 3 vintage pocket watches in my collection, all well over a century old, but none with any family ties or history. The family history with yours makes it all that much better.
That filigree work on the case is lovely! Is the watch .925 sterling?

I don't know for sure, but I believe it's sterling silver
Tres magnifiqué!
What a beautiful and gorgeous watch. Thank you for sharing.
I’m a day late, but my grandfather gave me this. Illinois Watch Co., seems to be from about 1917. Runs in some positions, not in others so could definitely use a service.
