An itch that needs scratching…..

This last 4-5 years has taken quite the toll on me and I’m slowly finding my way again due to a job change blah blah……. I’m smitten by both of these but can’t afford to pull the trigger on both……

I love both and they each tick slightly different boxes. I think whichever I go for will be pre-owned. This carries a significant price difference but that’s not going to be the deciding factor…..

Which would you go for?

I would pick the Sinn, but that's mainly due to size. I probably couldn't pull off the lug-to-lug on that Tudor. If it were the Pelagos 39, I'd be all over it.

·

They're both great watches. I'd go for the Sinn only because it's not as commonly seen as the Pelagos.

·

If it were my money? The Sinn.

The U50's dimensions are more wearable (slimmer case, shorter lug to lug), at least on my wrist. Not a fan of the FXD fixed bracelet bars, which limit the wearing flexibility. If I were going diving, I'd choose the U50 over the FXD. The FXD's bidirectional bezel (to aid in underwater navigation) is cool, but I'm not a military diver, so prefer the utility of the traditional unidirectional bezel on the U50. Looks wise, the FXD is certainly 'prettier' but the U50 screams tool watch. And finally, price.

But, it ain't my money, so let us know what you decide...and pics when you get it!

Uptick did a nice long video with Johnny Guitar comparing these two after I asked on a previous video how they stack up to one another.

I own the FXD and compared both of these. I chose the FXD as I lean towards blue dial watches for divers, but also I preferred the looks and bezel itself and a countdown bezel for cooking, etc. I also appreciated the similarity to my Yacht-Master as a good balance to the relative bling of the YM.

I plan to pick up a U50 at some point however, as a counter to the FXD, there is a limited edition U50, the U50.S.BS that can be had for the same price as an FXD.

Also, Uptick did a video on the limited edition U50.

Fixed Lugs FTW.

·

FXD for me all day. Its at the top of my wish list.

I do like that Sinn though. It would be a very close second.

·

Sinn U50 - SDR would be my pic.... more versatile than the FXD.

·

For me, it’s the Tudor and it’s not even close.

·

Tudor. Aesthetics aside, the Kenissi movements are excellent.

·

I really REALLY like the fxd and would buy one if I didn’t already have a blue dial diver. The sinn is nice but the Peligos is 😛

·

I like them both I would go with the Sinn because they are less common and it speaks to your interest in the industry.

If you need a watch that can cover all occasions with little effort the Tudor is the one for you

·

Both are solid, but I dig the honesty of the sinn as a no nonsense, indestructible tool

·

I would get the Sinn, but that’s my taste. You don’t need our approval; get what’s calling you.

·

I voted for the Sinn, but if you had picked a version of the Pelagos with actual, working springbars, my vote would have been different.

·

I ticked the Pelagos FXD, it remains surprisingly challenging to buy from an ad which is my preference, I have been told that the 39mm Pelagos is easier to buy which is no concern for me since thst model does not interest me. One of the guys who collects watches, the only enthusiast around here criticizes buying new since it makes more sense financially to source pre owed but I am not in the hobby to save money!

I’ve tried the ‘standard’Pelagos, and for me it’s too slab sided and a bit clunky. Looks epic face on though…….

1 vote for FXD but if i can choose another aside of those should be Pelagos Blue or Seamaster 300pro

Thanks - already got a SMP 2254.50…… which I also adore!

I would go with the FXD. It is a unique model that hasn't been done before by Tudor. The U50 is an amazing watch but doesn't have the same power reserve as the Tudor, resale value, brand recognition, etc...

·

If this render of the Sinn U50 would come to fruition, there would be no doubt in my head. I would still go for the sinn tho. Both are great watches!

The Sinn all the way!

·

If the FXD had the same proportions as the U50, I'd be all over it. But it doesn't, so I'm all over the Sinn instead. This watch goes with any and every strap option I've thrown at it - more so than any other watch I ever owned. The Pelagos 39 has turned my eye lately, but I think I'll stick with the Sinn, it is absolutely no nonsense!

Thanks to all those who responded to the poll or commented……. In the end I got neither! The U50 was my top choice, but at the Sinn factory this week I was able to try it on (and pretty much everything else 👍) and felt it was too small, so got the U1! Loving it!
