Any ideas?

I’m looking for a deep, glossy inky black dial 37-38 mm watch. I like the looks of the Sealander 36 mm, but the short lug-to-lug? Too small? Too much Rolex wannabe? Any recommendations on something similar, but just slightly larger? Or is this big enough for a 17 cm wrist?

Yes the 39mm version? 🧐

More Aqua Terra than Rolex IMO.

I'm saving this post. I'm interested in picking up something just like you described. My wrist is a little over 19mm so the lug-to-lug measurement will make or break a watch for me. Happy hunting!

I’ve the 39mm Sealander and it gets top marks from me.

Yeah, the name "Sealander" kinda gives that away, but people constantly compare any watch to Rolex.

The 39mm has a longer lug to lug length than the 36mm, and fits my 7" wrist quite well.

I made quite the same question last year at WC and got some quite interesting suggestions from several crunchers: https://www.watchcrunch.com/TekindusT/posts/upmarket-alternatives-to-seiko-5-snkl23-42582

(Ended up getting the GS)

Looks perfect 👌

I have a 39mm Sealander and love it on my 7.25" (18.5 ish cm) wrist. I also have a 36mm Lorier Falcon that has a similar lug to lug as the Sealander 36 (43mm CW / 44mm Falcon). I think both fit beautifully so I think either size would likely look great on you.

Sidenote: The Sealander is an absolutely stunning watch!

Thanks – interesting post. The GS looks great – slim enough?

Another vote for the Lorier Falcon.

L2L can be too long but never too short.

Grand Seiko's 9F Quartz sbgx261? Its 37mm and my spring drive is an infinite inky black and I think the same color is used on that model.

·

If you want inky black it's really hard to get any better than the Grand Seiko dials. They do have a quartz model that is 37mm, SBGX261. All the rest are 40mm. You really need to try them on to see how they look. The numbers don't tell the whole story.

… in the end I wen’t even bigger than 39 mm 😂 and ended up with a 40 mm Trident 300 that I found on sale. And I couldn’t be happier – a really beautiful watch. The slim case and the deep black dial/bezel wears just perfectly on my small wrist even though I’m used to 37-38 mm watches.
