Whats peoples thoughts on these resin case Seiko 5, not many reviews on them. Ones that are on sale are nearly 50% off the original RRP

First I’ve heard of them, they seem pretty hard to find online.  My first thought is that Seiko is trying to get me to buy a plastic watch for too much money. Of course my second thought is let me just take a look at this for a second…

Jory from JOMW did a video on em. He compared it to the moonswatch and wasn’t overly impressed.

·

I'd definitely trust Jody's opinion on this kind of thing. He's seen enough watches!

·

i would go with the stainless srpd, not too big price different. and to mention moonswatch got omega logo on the dial, this one doesnt 😂

I think this sums up most of our thoughts.

If you like it though, go for it. There are definitely benefits of zagging while the rest of us are zigging

·

Very overpriced for the materials used.

·

Marketing...........$$$$$$........

Turns your crank go for it!

Like I said before go 3D print your own lol

Cheers!

At 50% off, if you like it, why not? It's a cheap light watch with the Seiko brand on it. Smaller than a metal 5KX, but wouldn't matter to me anyways.

At MSRP this would be an easy "no" for me.

As a concept, I think this could be pretty cool. Maybe put a nicer Seiko quartz movement in there to bring some cost down. But like most of everyone else here, I have to agree it's way overpriced for what it is.

To be honest though, if someone was looking to chuck one or had it for a low price, I'd gladly take it off their hands 😂

I was about to say, if they did a quartz version of this I'd be all over it (providing it was a reasonable price).

Might have already been mentioned, but I would have loved this to be a quartz so I can treat it like a beater!

For AU$189 i thought id give it a whirl fancied a brown dial but nothing too expensive and something different

I actually just sold mine today.   It's a bit of a novelty and while I think it's cool I just wasn't wearing it.

Now I like the look of that all gray. Almost gives me some GShock vibes

I do like the brown dial and bezel look with the white case. I think the colors blend a little better.

When it first launched, I had only seen photos of the white and black one and wasn’t super impressed.

Never! The only resin watch I like are the digital Casio Watches or Timex. This resin Seiko or MoonSwatch for me looks like a toy.

·

These resin Seiko 5s was only released for Oceania market as a limited run model for some ocean awareness. The resin cases were made fron recycled ocean plastics or something. It was not produced to take on the Moonswatch, Seiko already made one of these resin models a year or so ago just for Chinese market even before Moonswatch was a thing.

Its more of a limited novelty rather than a regular offering. It is weirdly priced for what it offers but atleast it is better than bioceramic and has a decent automatic movement for the price.
