The perfect mix of both worlds

Ok so i know we all like watches on here thats not a question anymore at this point. But what are other hobby's u guys and galls like combining with your watch itch? I for one just got into riding motorcycles because i just got my license and have a parent who is heavily into oldschool bikes. I think some of that might have made its way into my DNA because when i saw this BMW K1 in the dealership it whas love at first sight. Now that i have seen this breitling top time chrono in the corvette configuration i just have to own this set. It somehow just feels like they belong together. Anyways, i have been talking for to long already now, let me know down below what your guys favourite hobbys are to mix with watches. Or what your favourite riding watch is if u do ride. Lets hear it for the motorcycle lovers out here.

There was a guy that daily rode one of those, in that color scheme, where I worked not too long ago. That bodywork can't be cheap or plentiful, so it was surprising. Some other guy across the way had a ~1973 Triumph Bonneville that he got stuck riding to work one winter day when his car was in the shop, and he just kind of stuck with it afterward.

I generally wear either of my supercheap black plastic Casio's when riding (digital or analog, depending). They are light and slim and won't rot from sweat. They're going under a glove anyway, and there is a nonzero chance for something nasty in the impact and abrasion department to happen. That's if I'm doing some special riding. For normal everyday riding, almost whichever normal everyday watch. Except the big ones that don't fit under the glove.

Here's my ride,a 2016 BMW GS. I just got into watches and recently acquired a Jack Mason Moto Chronograph which is an homage to motorcycle racing. I also have a couple divers, a Kamasu and an Ocean Crawler Paladino..

·

Classic cars I have a 1971 MGB GT the one in profile picture. Also into vintage toys have a large collection.growing up never had a lot lucky if we had a pot to p15s in lol so I guess iam making up for it now .have told my kids do what you like with my toys, watches and cars I don't care I will be pushing up daisies 😂

·

I just tried on the Breitling series in your pic. The watches are stunning in person. I gave up bikes 20 plus years ago. I have an old Chevy I need to drive more and too many firearms.

Noice, that's one rare and delightful bike!

Whenever I ride, I try to match the watch to my bike - Made In UK Timex Rally with my Commando 750, 80s Citizen Digital with my Helix 250, and ... hm, now that I think of it, I guess I need to get a bicolour Chrono for this ... 😀

When riding, I most often wear nothing (in terms of watches,) but if I do, it's my Casio Outgear Fishing Gear watch. If I need something (I rarely do) more formal or something that's more sensitive, I keep it in my pocket oftentimes wrapped in a cloth or something similar.

Nice ride! My father owns a GS as well. I've had the pleasure of riding pillion a few times, and they are easily one of the best motorcycles in the world. Excellent colour too!

Ye i saw it like a day of 4 ago, since then been doing research on it and boy those parts sure are exspensive and hard to come by. But i guess love is never easy 😜. I had to google the bonneville but that sure is a stunner aswell, cant help but think i would feel folded up on there. 😅

when it comes to sweat i dont really think about that maybe i should 🤭, but i had never actually thought of a casio for riding i will definetly look into one of those.

Ooof i love that ride sir, looks amazing. 100% going to have to test ride a 1200 soon. My driving instructor drove the same bike and i always wanted to try it. 🤭

Googled the jack mason chrono real quick and ooh my it looks very good and kind of gives vintage vibes with the case shape and lovely leather perforated strap very nice pick indeed.

The GS is a great ride, kind of a Swiss army knife of motorcycles. You can tour comfortably, take it off road, or it can take you through the twisties at a much quicker pace than you should. You should definitely give it test ride and see if it fits your needs. The Chronograph has small details that allude to motorcycling. The crown is in the shape of a bike tire, the two pushers look like small pistons, and the second hand dial at the bottom of the face is in the form of a retro bikes headlight.

They really are beautiful watches right, i have yet to see it irl but im going to hop by my ad tomorrow to have a look at it. The chevy looks amazing, a c6 i presume? I dont have to much knowledge on those cars but they do look stunning. White rims and a panda chrono would be a nice combo 🤭

Exactly, every ride can have its own combo haha. Maybe have a look at the tudor bb chrono s&g it can be picked up for quite a nice discount on the second hand market i believe. Would pair sooooo well.

Your not wrong there,it feels best to not wear any watch at all when riding. But then at the rest stop i feel so naked when taking the suit off 😅

I to have tried the watch pouch method haha, throw it in the pouch inside pocket and goooo.

What bike is that btw it looks very nice.

Aaaaaah, now i cant wait to testdrive one haha. My instructor told me the same that its a great all rounder. I just like a bike that feels stable and comfortable as everyone does i guess. That chrono truely is stunning its touches like that that can make u fall in love with a watch. Even the 2 top subdials remind me of the acceleration and revs counter of a vintage bike.

Sports cars and lonely backroads.

Those roads do look amazingly fun for a sports car 😋, and loving the cayman. Can see that u keep her clean which must be hard in those sandy conditions. 🤭

·
ckim4watches

My mix. Drawing and watches.

Sooooo, when does your first humanoid go into production 😜. Would be nice to see some dial drawings, who knows maybe u can inspire some of the people in switserland.

DangusMagoo

Roll up to McDonalds in that combo and you’ll be king! 🤣

Seriously though, that bike is as rad as it gets. Gearheads and watch nerds are like PB&J…they’re just hobbies that are meant to be together.

Haha for real, and in the essence they are both mechanical machines.

Honestly if i do get the bike its the first thing im doing hit the mcdrive or maybe even on the testdrive hehe

Thanks! I love the wide open spaces. This is what I use to leave the pavement.

I have one too. 1972 short frame BMW R60/5. Just had my first spring ride today. (Last year pic)

Awesome bike, how whas your first ride? I can only imagine parts being hard to come by at that age. So far i have seen a couple brown ones but not a blue one, a true treasure on the road.

·

Yes C6 Z06 thank you! This is the last year of the 427 engine

The Thunderbird is my favorite watch of the collection

If you want the thunderbird your going to have to get amustang i guess 😜.

Its always something special to get the last run of a certain model, congratulations on getting it and dont let go ofcourse 😋

Tudor BBC is nice, but still more costly than the entire bike 🙄

Besides, it's gotta be from Japan or USA. Bulova comes to mind, or a Citizen Bullhead ...

Pleasant. I'm too crippled up to do highway but I run around the lakes and out to coffee. In the US this bike is a mystic rarity. I've owned it since 2016 and I've only seen four. They came in blue, but not THAT color blue. That is a color from an early 1970s Chevrolet Camaro or so I'm told. I get my parts from a company called "Max BMW". They have most things. They got me a new wiring harness and instrument cluster. The headlight shell was the worst to get, the one I have is all welded up on the bottom where you can't see it. I'd still like to get correct pipes and seat, and maybe a new starter. But first I need to get some tires. It was cheap because it had issues, but the motor is really good.

Oh yes, a commercial for my bike from WAY back when it was new. Found this and color corrected it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghQqGf_6ZfM

Bikes are great but you have to drive with all the idiots out there and if you survive those guys a skiff of dust on the road could spill you. Still its a fun ride.

·

That red themed combo you've got going on works great! Unfortunately, I have too many things that I pair up with watches 😂 photography, videography, and cars...all of which tend to be not inexpensive 😭

I sold my KTM RC 390 in 2017 when my F80 M3 arrived. I couldn't keep both, and my wife definitely didn't enjoy seeing my gear up and hit the road on the motorcycle, not with how people drive around here and the inherent dangers of being on a public road without a metal cage around you. But to be fair I never wore my watches when I did go out for a ride - I was always too worried about the vibrations and the inherent impact it would have on my watch internals over longer periods of time 👍

I leave you with my own Breitling x BMW combo shot - be well, ride safe, stay vigilant, and always remember that it doesn't matter if you have the right of way and are "right/correct, if you're dead." 🤝

my 2003 rusted corolla doesn't quite work for this post. Especially when that watch is worth more !

Bikes are my number one obsession, beating watches by a pretty wide margin. When I ride I wear something simple and usually quartz. I’ve heard mix things about motorcycle vibes and mechanical watches, but I’d rather not risk it. I can’t see it when I’m riding anyway.

I’ve been all over the place bike wise from track bikes to vintage BMW.

What I’ve been riding most the last few years:
