FOSSIL…..what does the WC community think?

Do you all consider them a “legitimate” watch brand, however you define that?

They make a lot of watches for themselves and other companies…..

‘Legitimate’ is a weird term. They are a real company that sells real (as in they exist) watches. So yes it is a legitimate watch company. Are they an enthusiast brand? Depends on who you ask I guess, I’d probably say no, but then I’m just some idiot on the internet.

Sneered at by some in the community, but wear what you like to wear! I think it looks clean.

My dad loved fossil watches back in the day. I guess theyre just a fashion watch at the core but i think they have some nice handsome designs and are definitely a legit watch company for the cheaper market especially. I agree with the above comment that theyre not an "enthusiast" brand but I respect the hell out of them. My dad's fossils from the early 2000s are still ticking 🙌

Also if thats your fossil in the OP, its beautiful!

I don't own a Fossil watch. Haven't really aspired to, to be honest. My brother does own a couple, but he doesn't consider himself a "watch guy" LOL!

My guess though, is that Fossil is as legit as other relatively low(er) [read "affordable"] end brands.

I own primarily Timex, Casio, Pagani, et al ... so who am I to judge!! LOL!!

Wear 'em if ya got 'em 👍

They were hugely popular in the 80's & 90's & brought a lot of people into the watch hobby we all love & enjoy.

I've worn this for over a decade, my heaviest watch. Housing a quartz main dial and an auto subdial is interesting enough to keep it in the collection. (Plus I like the look of it, chunky and right at the upper limit for me size wise.)

Not every purchase needs to be horological. Like not all my art is "serious". Wearing what you enjoy is more important than anything else.

They have put millions of watches on millions of wrists in seemingly a million styles. I'd say they're legit.

For a short time, maybe 15 or so years ago, Fossil put out a Swiss Made automatic with the STP1-11 movement. (Fossil owns the company)

Nice watches but didn't catch on.

I dont mind them. I saw their Defender last year and it seemed decent enough.

Fossil is more of a fashion brand, which is not in line with what I like. But their Heritage Automatic for $280 looks not too bad. Interesting fact; Fossil owns Zodiac, which was founded in 1882 in Le Locle, Switzerland.

I like my Fossil.

My poll on if I should get my first Fossil watch did not go well. lol😂
