A slightly bigger test than I was expecting to give this watch but it’s passing with flying colours

Now I’m going to start by saying that I’m going to be fine, but I was taken into hospital yesterday with severe chest pains. Now that I’ve got the setting sorted I’m going to say that normally when I go into a hospital I’ll wear a hard wearing quartz watch, probably not necessary but my mechanical watches cost a bit so I try to keep them away from magnetisation. However, the chest pain was so sudden yesterday that I didn’t have time to think about that and was packad into the ambulance with the watch I had on, my new favourite watch, the green dial Borealis Sintra. It’s been with me when I’ve gotten two x-rays and a CT scan and is still matching the time on my phone perfectly. It’s so comfortable that I’ve hardly noticed it despite the pain and extra sensitivity that came with that. This watch is amazing. I already loved the look of it although I’ve started appreciating it more as I’ve had a lot of time to look at my watch as I’ve only got that and my phone on me but now I can really appreciate everything about it and maybe not be so precious about how I treat some of my watches.

Anyway sorry about the ramble anyone who read this I’m blaming the morphine as I look at my watch wondering when the next shot is coming.

Hope that you are better soon. I will put Borealis on the short list of brands to wear during a cardiac episode.

It wasn’t a cardiac episode but a lung problem. For cardiac issues you want a Rolex so people think you’re someone and get you help fast 😉

A couple of days away from the kids with a morphine drip. It could be worse. 😉

Glad you are feeling better! Glad to hear the watch survived too lol

The watch is doing better than me, which isn’t too hard. I’m sure we’ll both be fine and my wife is kindy making a list of things that need to get done when I get home 🛠

Oof. Glad to hear your doing ok...ish? Ok-ish.

Prays for your health

Also nice to hear the watch took X-Rays and a CT scan like a champ.

I was amazed a mechanical watch with no mention of antimagnetisation. I hadn’t thought about it till after but it’s keeping up.

Tell the story to the watchmakers/company? Who knows, might win you some free straps or something. That's some solid watch ad there.

·

get well soon! thanks for sharing your experience with your watch, i haven't heard of borealis before but i will check it out

·

So sorry to hear. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. That green dial is gorgeous. I'm sure that watch will hold a special place in your collection from now on - definitely some memories associated with it.

·

All the best, and I hope your health improves very soon. That's a lovely watch you've got and we all hope to see many more posts off you for years to come

That’s a good idea. I will get in touch. If nothing else they’re  small firm who might appreciate hearing how well their watch has stood up.

The cardiac surgeons and intensivists I know mostly wear Rolex’s - But they aren’t really watch guys per se, just got the watch to complete the stereotype . 😂

·

Beautiful watch 🥰👏👏

Glad it wasn’t anything worse and hoping you’re feeling much better asap 🤞

Sounds like another argument for Rolex with Cardiac issues😉

BTW - lungs are a crazy under appreciated organ!  They are as sturdy as tissue paper and damage to them (Covid/ flu/ ILD/ … etc) can kill as easily as a cardiac or neural failure.  Everyone should love their lungs 🙂

Did not know about the sturdy as tissue papper bit. It’s given me something to think about 😬

Thank you very much. I’m mostly recovered now and back to work  Hopefully won’t have to deal with that again.

That dial is beautiful. What’s that model?

·

It the no date version with the Miyota 90S5 movement and white sunray dial.

Very nice. I’m going to be contacting Borealis to see if they do anything special in regards to magnetisation. Even though the CT scan and X-rays themselves don’t give of a lot of magnetisation their were instruments there that did.

·

For anyone interested CT scans and x-rays in and of themselves do not give out large amounts of magnetism the area where they were held had instruments that did give of some magnetism, whether that would affect a mechanical watch is debateble.

In any event Borealis do make an effort to make their watches anti-magnetic and they’ve found the Sintra to have a rating of 15,000A/m though it isn’t certified as such.

·

Just to get the monster thread badge I’m going to post a few photos of the Sintra on some nice straps.
