Hi crunchers,
as I was scrolling through the new releases from Tudor, something caught my eye like a deer staring at a cars headlights. A bright and white date window at three o‘clock on the BB58 GMT. Why in the world did they not even give it a guilt frame or made the wheel black at least. To me, it really downgrades a really cool watch.
What do you think, am I overly picky here or is that date wheel color really that off?

It’s in line with the white indices and hands
Totally agree, sticks out like a sore thumb
@WristCounselor is it though? The hands and indices look more like the yellowish shade we know from the original (black) BB58.
I would have preferred black
The date should have been framed as a minimum.
Who knows how much Tudor have saved up by skipping on the frame but it's always the little details that stick out for watch enthusiasts.
I agree with needing a gilt frame around the window. I don't mind the white background, but a roulette date wheel would've been cool. I also like that Tudor didn't add a gold crown on this one. Hopefully they update the clasp. Question is: do I need this in addition to my original BB58? Possibly.
Black date wheel would affect the perception of symmetry. Gilt surrounding would be too much evident they tried to hide the watch isn't symmetric. I think it brings some balance to the addition of a date. I would have put it at 6, but that's another thing. My very own perception and two cents.
I think a frame would be too much and a black wheel would leave a gap. I think the balance is quite good.
I am not quite sold on the gilt accents think they should have done away with the damn rivets for good. Or at least include the 5 link as an option...
A black wheel would lose the symmetry with the 9 o'clock baton. It has to be white. This is correct design.
It looks like a 100 dollar Aliexpress homage

Don't see an issue, it fits with the markers. Maybe a guilt frame or print around could be done but still better than black IMO.
Imagine this without gilt and perfect white indexes
Too small
A gilt frame would have been a great addition! Unframed as it is though, I think a cyclops would’ve worked (a bit controversial).
@fullcollapse1219 I never thought about a roulette date wheel here. While I like the idea, I think it would have been a tat too playful for me 😅
@marioap you are right about a black date wheel affecting visual symmetry.
In my own little perfect world, the date wheel would have been coated in the same luminova as the indices and would have a gilt frame. Just my opinion, even if it was $300 more with it, I would go for it.
@UnsignedCrown the 5 link bracelet would be the icing on the cake!!!
I really dig the bones of this but is the the color scheme I want for all time? I also don't want to wait forever for something better that may not come for ages.
I like it…and Im’m usually a color matching kinda guy. Looks like the window is nicely beveled

Of course no watch is perfect and here there's a lot of small details we all in combination would change. I haven't really looked too much in detail as I'm more interested in a future thinner BB Pro, but if that wasn't the case this would be in my short list.

i'm pretty sure they purposely make their watches unattractive so customers will come back for more or go for a Rolex. It's all just a part of their marketing strategy.
