It looks to be in wonderful condition. What a keepsake!
Thank you! It was a surprise when I received it. I couldn't stop staring at it. I took it to Omega to have serviced. It was working but pretty worn. Primarily to take off the metal bracelet he had on it. I didn't want to damage it trying to do it myself. They replaced the crystal (kinda miss all the scratches) and serviced the movement.
Amazing condition, did you get it polished? An absolutely beautiful watch. 😍
Thank you! I asked them not to polish it much. They couldn't anyways because it is gold plated. Service from Omega was excellent, though pricey; but I expected that.
Beautiful Omega Seamaster, treasure it always. The summer before I entered middle school my parents gifted me a steel Seamaster with beads of rice bracelet circa 1960, looks to be the same model as your grandfather’s except his is gold plated or filled.

Thank you! It was an amazing feeling for sure. My father never mentioned it before. Truly an honor to be the one to receive it. Weirdly, In November 2022 I had just bought myself my first Omega ( a Speedmaster SS) as birthday gift to myself. I received the heirloom Omega the following month when going back to the Chicago area to spend the holidays with my Dad.
Thank you very much for showing this beautiful watch. When I saw it I almost started crying. We came to US from Soviet Union in 1979. Before leaving USSR, my grandmother gave me my grandfather's gold Omega because I was the eldest grandson. That watch looked like the one you have. Unfortunately, when we were leaving, the Soviet border guards noticed the watch and confiscated it under a pretense that we were over our quota for valuables. I had to give it up. Since then I always wanted to get an gold Omega like that. About a year an a half ago my wife gave me an Omega as a birthday present. It is a new version, so I'm still going to find a vintage one like that in the near future.

Wow thank you for sharing your story! My Grandmother gave it to my Father. I feel fortunate for sure.
Thank you for sharing this story. Well done for sending the watch to Omega for an official servicing. Consider yourself lucky for this opportunity. My father's only watch, a gold Longines from the 40s, was forever lost due to an house robbery. A wound that doesn't heal. Wear it a lot, enjoy every minute with it. Love❤️

Thank you and I will! I definitely didn't want to mess around with the watch and Omega seemed like the obvious choice. I am sorry for the theft of your family heirloom! I hate hearing those things!

Thanks! It's from the 60's. Omega didn't have the specific year for me.
